Suzanne Sterling is a singer, musician, social innovator, ritual leader and activist who has been performing and teaching transformational workshops for over 25 years. Her life's work is inspiring others to find their unique voice through sound, singing, embodiment and a connection to the sacred, using self-expression and ritual as tools for healing, community building and conscious evolution.
As a musician she has released five solo albums, numerous DVD soundtracks and guest appearances on more than 15 albums and compilations. Her concerts and kirtans are a modern exploration of devotional music, described on her site as "part tent revival, part rock show, all Bhakti." She has been called a soulful, groove-loving musical priestess who reinvents ancient traditions of ecstatic prayer through the voice.
Suzanne has been a featured artist and teacher at festivals and centers including Wanderlust, Omega, Esalen, Kripalu, Yoga Journal events, Burning Man, Lightning in a Bottle and the World Festival of Sacred Music. She founded Voice of Change, an empowerment initiative, and is creator of The Voice of Change Method. She co-founded Off The Mat, Into the World, which trains leaders in sacred activism, and directed its Global Seva Challenge. In 2021 she co-founded the Auricle Collective to support sacred musicians. For over 25 years she has also worked with the International Reclaiming Community, co-creating public ritual and training teachers in earth-based spirituality.
Worth Knowing
Suzanne Sterling is a musician, teacher, ritualist, and activist who has spent over 25 years developing a practice rooted in voice, chanting, and music as tools for spiritual and social transformation. She founded Voice of Change and co-founded Off the Mat into the World, organizations that embed spiritual practice into community activism and conscious evolution. What distinguishes her in the landscape of contemporary spiritual musicians is her explicit commitment to ritual and healing as vehicles for collective change—not merely personal transcendence. She has released 5 solo albums, created 8 DVD soundtracks, and collaborated as a guest vocalist across many other artists' projects. In 2021, she co-founded The Auricle Collective, a community of musicians dedicated to singing, chanting, and music as spiritual practice, which has become a gathering point for musicians exploring voice as a transformational modality. Her work appeals to listeners and practitioners who understand ritual expression not as escape, but as active engagement with their own healing and the healing of community.
