Beyond the Long Stroke: Integrating Esalen® Massage and the Healing Art of Deep Bodywork®

This five-day intensive trains practicing bodyworkers to integrate the fluid, presence-based qualities of Esalen Massage with deeper therapeutic techniques. Developed by Johanna and Perry Holloman over four decades, Deep Bodywork combines flowing massage with targeted deep tissue work to release chronic tension patterns and restore tissue health. Participants learn effective techniques across the entire body, with emphasis on proper body mechanics and sustainable practice. The approach bridges structural change and pain management with integration and relaxation, suitable for massage therapists, acupuncturists, physiotherapists, and chiropractors. Previous hands-on bodywork experience is required. Thirty continuing education units are available through NCBTMB for an additional fee.
