Yoga Teacher · Rishikesh, India
Nivritti Yoga is a yoga and meditation teaching project based in Rishikesh, India, dedicated to sharing ancient wisdom and practices from authentic spiritual traditions. Its aim is to keep those practices pure and traditional in form while adapting them to modern needs, so they can be brought easily into daily life.
The name comes from 'Nivritti', which the founders describe as the path of turning conscious: no longer living in an unconscious, conditioned way and seeking fulfilment in the outside world, but finding it inwards through contemplation and meditation. On this path, attention is directed inward, often with a focus on acceptance and a connection with the true Self. Nivritti Yoga began out of a passion for sharing the wisdom of the sages and ancient texts, with the belief that everyone has the potential to awaken the inner Self as a source of joy and fulfilment.
The founder, Sandeep, has learned under various traditional monasteries across different schools of thought. He has also obtained many national and international certificates, including a master's in Yoga & Meditation.
Nivritti Yoga offers courses suited to beginners and advanced practitioners alike, along with books, one-to-one sessions and a membership. Its mission is to help people overcome physical, psychological and emotional hurdles, experience the bliss within, and share these tools with others.
Worth Knowing
Nivritti Yoga is a teaching project founded by Sandeep and based in Rishikesh, India—the centuries-old center of yoga and spiritual practice. The project centers on the philosophy of "Nivritti," a Sanskrit term meaning the inward turn, or the path of conscious awakening: rejecting unconscious, conditioned patterns that drive people to seek fulfillment in the external world, and redirecting that search inward through meditation and contemplation. Students and practitioners are drawn to this work because Sandeep doesn't present spirituality as abstract theory, but as a functional toolkit for addressing the physical, psychological, and emotional obstacles that block access to what the project calls the inner Self—described as the source of genuine ecstasy and fulfillment. The appeal lies in its pragmatism: ancient wisdom reframed for daily modern life, not hidden in monastic language or made dependent on full retreat participation. Sandeep's own lineage—training under multiple traditional monasteries across different schools of thought—lends the teachings historical depth without dogmatic rigidity. People care because Nivritti Yoga promises something most contemporary spirituality doesn't: a clear philosophical distinction between chasing external validation and actually transforming your internal experience.
