Descrizione
There is a language the body speaks long before words arrive, and most of us were never taught to read it. This yoga retreat at Esalen Institute in Big Sur, California, offers a week devoted to learning that language slowly and with curiosity, guided by somatic teacher and breathwork facilitator Lihi Benisty.
The Inner Atlas: Mapping the Self through Somatic Self-Inquiry is a five-day immersive retreat built around the idea of cartography. Through breathwork, somatic movement, writing, sound, and relational mirrors, participants explore the terrains that live beneath language: where breath meets bone, where memory lives in muscle, where story shapes identity, and where the future self waits to be remembered.
This is not a week to become someone new. It is an invitation to meet the person who has been here all along, layered, complex, rhythmic, and alive. If you are drawn to inner work that is patient rather than prescriptive, and to a coastal setting that supports it, this retreat was shaped for you.
What to Expect
Each day opens a distinct landscape to traverse. The week moves from the dense knowing of the body to the subtle currents of emotion, from inherited stories that live in the bones to the archetypes that move us unseen. The pace is unhurried. Sensation, story, memory, and meaning are mapped as they surface, rather than forced into view.
The practices include:
- Breathwork and somatic movement to listen to the body's own intelligence
- Writing to give shape to what emerges
- Sound as a way into feeling and presence
- Relational mirrors, so that self-inquiry is also witnessed and shared
Throughout the week, Lihi offers guidance and tools for each participant to create their own Inner Atlas: a living body-map of sensation, story, lineage, and possibility. It is meant to serve as a compass, a way back to yourself when life asks you to choose yourself.
