Tina Malia began as a folk-minded songwriter, learning guitar by listening to Joni Mitchell, Joan Baez, Ani DiFranco and Alison Krauss. Her debut, Shores of Avalon, led to a meeting with chant pioneer Jai Uttal, who invited her into his Pagan Love Orchestra and opened the door to Sanskrit mantra.
