About This Event

Description

Yoga at The Dalí is a monthly vinyasa yoga class at The Dalí Museum in St. Petersburg, Florida. It is led by Lucky Cat Yoga and held on the third Sunday of each month, from 9:00 to 10:00 in the morning. The class is open to all levels, so it suits people new to yoga as well as those with an established practice who want to move and breathe in an unusual setting.

The museum is part of the draw. Lucky Cat Yoga describes the place as one where Dalí's energy infuses the physical, mental and spiritual inspiration of yoga, and the class takes place with waterfront views.

What to Expect

The Lucky Cats teach vinyasa yoga in an all-level style that weaves together basic breath work, postures, meditation and relaxation. The hour is not about keeping up with anyone. Students are encouraged to awaken and sustain their practice at their own pace, taking the postures as far as feels right and resting when they need to.

Class runs for one hour, beginning at 9:00 AM. Because the doors close promptly at 9:15 AM and no one is admitted after that, the morning rewards an early arrival: time to park, check in, find a spot for your mat and settle before the first breath work begins.

The Setting

Classes are held in the Raymond James Community Room or in the Avant-garden, depending on the day. Both look out over the water, and both sit within The Dalí Museum grounds in St. Petersburg. Practicing beside the bay, with a museum devoted to one of the twentieth century's most imaginative painters just behind you, gives the class a character that a conventional studio does not.

Many people make a morning of it. Gallery admission is not part of the class, but visitors who have been to the yoga session can see the galleries the same day at half-off.

Before You Go

- Bring your own mat. The museum does not supply yoga mats.
- Arrive early. Allow time for parking and admission, as doors close at 9:15 AM and late entry is not permitted.
- Register in advance. Choose the date you wish to attend and complete checkout. Rates differ for museum members and non-members. All sales are final, with no exchanges or refunds.
- New students need a waiver. If this is your first class, print and sign a waiver ahead of time. It should be updated once per year.
- Experience: none required. The vinyasa is suitable for beginners and experienced students alike, and you are free to pace yourself.

The class includes the one-hour session with Lucky Cat Yoga and access to the Raymond James Community Room or the Avant-garden. Full museum admission, a yoga mat and entry after the doors close are not included.
