Kirtan Retreat
Description
A five-day immersion in sacred sound rooted in North Indian musical traditions. Participants engage in devotional singing, mantra chanting, and rhythm work across morning yoga and voicework sessions, afternoon small-group music-making, and evening ecstatic group chanting. Held at Drala Mountain Center, a 108-foot stupa and surrounding practice land create acoustically resonant spaces for collective singing. Teachers bring decades of study in Indian classical music and yogic traditions. All levels welcome, from complete beginners to experienced musicians. The retreat emphasizes embodied practice, accessible instruction, and the understanding that singing is an act of remembrance rather than performance. Participants work with melody, vocal expression, Indian rhythm, and finger cymbals while supporting one another in a heart-centered container.
