Inner Space Glasgow is a meditation centre that offers a welcoming place to pause, reflect and reconnect. It shares meditation and practical ideas that support peace of mind, self-esteem and a more positive, steady way of living. Its approach comes from the practice of Raja Yoga meditation. Some people come for a bit of quiet, and others explore Raja Yoga more deeply. Everyone is free to take what feels helpful.
The centre is managed by the Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University (UK). For over four decades its courses and events have been offered across Glasgow in libraries, community centres, hotels and even prisons. The first Inner Space Glasgow opened on Glasgow High Street in 2009. It later moved to Shettleston in 2021 and has been based at Red Tree in Bridgeton since January 2024.
The teaching centres on transforming one's own consciousness rather than trying to change others or outside circumstances. By exploring the question "Who am I?", people can develop self-awareness and self-mastery, and move beyond blame and limitation toward personal responsibility and inner clarity.
Rose Goodenough coordinates the centre. She has practised and taught meditation since the early 1980s. Marilyn Gordon, who has practised and taught since 1996, organises and facilitates its events. A small team of volunteers who are Raja Yoga practitioners runs every activity, and many of them first came to benefit from the courses themselves. Sessions are free of charge, and donations help keep the space open for everyone.
Worth Knowing
Inner Space Glasgow is a volunteer-run meditation centre based in Bridgerton (at Red Tree since January 2024) that has been teaching Raja Yoga and practical meditation across Glasgow for over four decades through the Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University. The centre offers free sessions rooted in the belief that self-awareness and personal reflection can lead to genuine peace of mind and steadier living—without requiring conversion to a particular faith or ideology. What draws people is both its accessibility (no cost, no pressure to commit long-term) and its pragmatic philosophy: the practice centres on transforming one's own consciousness rather than chasing external change or blaming circumstances. Students range from those seeking a quiet refuge to people systematically exploring Raja Yoga meditation for self-mastery. The volunteer-led model means classes are run by people who have personally benefited from the practice, creating an atmosphere of authenticity rather than commercial spirituality.
