About This Event

Description

Seeds of Becoming is a yoga and meditation retreat held over a weekend at Drala Mountain Center in Red Feather Lakes, Colorado, timed to the turn of the new year. It is for people who want to pause, listen inward, and let intentions form slowly rather than starting the year with a fixed plan or a list of resolutions. Movement, somatic practice, contemplative writing and stillness are led by Lauren Beale, a performing and visual artist, choreographer and yoga instructor. No prior experience is needed.

What to Expect

The retreat runs from a Friday afternoon to a Sunday midday and moves in three parts. Friday is for arrival and settling in. Check-in at the Guest Services Cabin is between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM, followed by a welcome, orientation and opening practices.

Saturday is the heart of the retreat. Morning meditation and movement sessions lead into somatic practices that explore sensation and breath, then reflective writing and contemplative work. Afternoon and evening sessions weave movement, stillness and personal reflection together.

Sunday brings morning practices and final sessions, time for integration, and a closing circle. Departure is by 12:30 PM.

The content centers on deep listening: guided meditation, writing, and attention to the body's intelligence and to intuition. Embodied movement, including yoga and somatic exploration, is meant to awaken vitality and a sense of creative energy. Reflective practices help clarify what you are carrying, what you are ready to release, and what you might invite in. Shared sessions are balanced with ample personal time to rest and integrate, and sharing with the group is invited but never required.

She holds an MFA in Dance from the University of Colorado Boulder, with an emphasis on collaborative, interdisciplinary performance and creative practice. The Setting

Drala Mountain Center sits near Red Feather Lakes, Colorado. Lodging for two nights is part of the retreat, and you choose a room type at checkout. Extra nights can be added at a reduced rate.

- Dormitories: gender-segregated rooms for up to seven or eight people, with a shared bathroom and showers down the hall.

- Single and Double Rooms: private rooms with a dresser, closet and attached bathroom with toilet, sink and shower.
- Junior Suite: a queen-size bed, sitting area, desk, dresser, closet and private bath with a bathtub.

All meals and drinks are included, with vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options.

Before You Go

This retreat is open to all levels. You do not need yoga or meditation experience, an artistic background, or a clear intention for the year ahead. Modifications and alternatives are offered for movement and meditation practices, and you are encouraged to adapt each one to your comfort. Participants are encouraged to take part in the full program, since each practice builds on the last.

Wear comfortable clothing that lets you stretch, rest and move freely. The retreat is taught in English. Included are lodging, meals and beverages, the guided sessions, and access to the facilities and grounds. Transportation to and from the center is not included, and personal instruction outside scheduled sessions is not offered.

Common Questions

FAQs

Tuition is listed as $0, and you pay for two nights of lodging, combined at checkout. Meals and drinks are included in that price. If you want to stay longer, extra nights are available at 50% off.
Meals and drinks are included with your registration, and the organizer notes vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. Check with Drala Mountain Center about any other allergies or restrictions before you arrive.
No. The organizer says you don't need prior experience, a clear vision, or any answers before arriving. The retreat is built around curiosity and honoring uncertainty rather than performing practices correctly.
Not in the usual sense. It deliberately avoids starting with a fixed plan or a list of resolutions. Instead, you use reflective practices to listen for intentions that feel authentic and alive, and you decide what to release and what to invite in.
