About This Event

Description

This free online meditation workshop invites you to listen to the medicine of winter through nature-based mindfulness and somatic practice. Led by Rochelle Calvert, a licensed clinical psychologist and ecodharma teacher, and offered by Drala Mountain Center in Red Feather Lakes, Colorado, it is open to anyone who wants to slow down with the season, whether or not they have meditated before.

Winter, as this workshop sees it, is a sacred pause that asks for slowness and stillness and a turn inward. The session offers a supportive space for healing, regulation and reconnection with the rhythms of the Earth in the colder months.

What to Expect

The gathering is a live online session of ninety minutes, held on a Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 7:30 pm Mountain Time. It moves through three kinds of practice: nature meditations, guided reflections on winter's medicine, and gentle movement grounded in seasonal awareness. Somatic practices for nervous system regulation run through the evening.

Through these practices you are invited to:

- Develop access to deep nervous system regulation
- Cultivate an embodied sense of being with nature
- Deepen connection to the seasonal winter cycles of nature

The workshop also serves as an introduction. The practices and concepts offered here are taken up in more detail in Rochelle's winter solstice retreat, which she teaches on the land at Drala Mountain Center. If you are curious about that longer, in-person offering, this session is a way to meet the approach first.

About Rochelle Calvert

Rochelle Calvert is a licensed clinical psychologist, ecodharma teacher, mindfulness teacher and somatic experiencing practitioner. She is devoted to sharing the healing potential of mindfulness, somatic awareness and nature, both to heal trauma and to awaken and heal the Earth. She has studied and taught mindfulness for the past 23 years.

About Drala Mountain Center

Drala Mountain Center is a retreat center in Red Feather Lakes, Colorado. This workshop is part of the Drala Mountain Online Practice Series, a collection of tuition-free online offerings held on select Tuesdays from 6:00 to 7:30 pm Mountain Time. Because it takes place online, you can join from wherever you are.

Before You Go

No prior meditation or somatic experience is required. The session is designed for all levels, with accessible guidance in mindfulness, nervous system awareness and gentle movement. It is taught in English.

The workshop is offered free of charge, in the spirit of dāna, the Buddhist tradition of giving from the heart in appreciation of the teachings. At registration you may make a tax-deductible donation of any amount if you wish to support the work.

Included is the ninety-minute live session with its nature meditations, guided reflections, gentle movement practices, and an introduction to seasonal attunement and nervous system regulation techniques. The in-person retreat experience, extended multi-day programming and accommodations are not part of this offering.
