Spiritual Workshop

About This Event

Description

Exploring the Enneagram is a spiritual workshop at the Krotona Institute of Theosophy in Ojai, California, led by Luz Tamarit. It is an evening introduction to the Enneagram of Personality Types, suited to anyone curious about self-understanding as part of a spiritual path. It is part of the Second Tuesday of the Month series and can be attended in person or by Zoom.

What to Expect

The evening runs from 7 to 8:30 pm Pacific and takes the form of a talk. It begins with where the Enneagram comes from. The modern system is a synthesis of several ancient wisdom traditions, and it was first put together by Oscar Ichazo. He founded the Arica School to transmit the knowledge he had received, taught in Chile in the late 1960s and early 1970s, and later lived in the United States until his passing in 2020. The Traditional Enneagram dates to the early 1960s, when Ichazo first began teaching it, while the philosophy behind it reaches back into antiquity.

From there, the session looks at the nine personality types as a map of our inner landscape. Each type names the chief features of how we see and move through the world. The emphasis is on self-observation: once we have watched ourselves honestly and are willing to look at what lies beyond personality, or the false self, there is room to move toward a more integrated way of being. Self-understanding is the prelude to transformation, and the Enneagram can be a useful addition to a spiritual path.

The session centers on the Traditional Enneagram of Personality Types, which Oscar Ichazo first taught in the early 1960s and developed through the Arica School in Chile in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The organizer describes it as a modern synthesis of several ancient wisdom traditions. Ichazo later moved to the United States and died in 2020.
The types are presented as a map of the chief features of our inner landscape. The aim is to observe yourself and explore what lies beyond personality, or the "false self," and so move toward a more integrated way of being. The organizer frames self-understanding as the prelude to transformation and as an addition to a spiritual path.
The event is offered both onsite at Krotona Institute of Theosophy in Ojai and on Zoom, so you can join from elsewhere. The listing doesn't say how Zoom access is distributed, so check with Krotona or the event page for the link.
