Meditation Retreat

About This Event

Description

L'insegnamento è in italiano e in inglese, e i posti arrivano fino a 140 partecipanti.

Common Questions

FAQs

Calm abiding (shamatha) is the meditative stability of a settled, focused mind. Emptiness (vacuità) is the Buddhist view of how things actually exist, without inherent independent existence. Bodhicitta is the altruistic aspiration to attain enlightenment for the benefit of all beings. Together they form a core sequence in the Tibetan Mahayana path as taught in the Gelug tradition.
Istituto Lama Tzong Khapa is a Buddhist centre in Pomaia, in the Tuscan province of Pisa, affiliated with the FPMT (Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition). It hosts teachings and retreats on the Gelug tradition, which follows the lineage of Lama Tsongkhapa, the institute's namesake. The setting is a residential centre in the Tuscan countryside, suited to extended study and meditation.
Calm abiding, emptiness and bodhicitta are topics that build on each other, and emptiness in particular can be demanding. Some familiarity with basic Buddhist ideas such as karma, rebirth and the Four Noble Truths will help. If you are completely new, it is worth contacting the institute beforehand to ask whether the level suits you.
The event title is in Italian, and the institute mainly operates in Italian, often with translation when a visiting teacher speaks another language. The exact teaching language and any interpretation options are not stated in the material I have. Check the event listing or ask the institute directly before booking.
