Inner Bonding: Building aRelationship With Yourself

Jai Dev Singh

Inner bonding is a six-step process developed over 34 years that teaches people to take 100% responsibility for their own feelings rather than blaming external circumstances. By developing a nurturing relationship with your inner self and learning to access higher guidance at will, you can heal anxiety, depression, relationship conflict, and addictive patterns. The process involves understanding how abandoning ourselves emotionally leads to suffering, recognizing that our pain is feedback from our inner self, and learning to love and advocate for ourselves the way a devoted parent would.

What Is Inner Bonding and How Does It Differ From Traditional Therapy?

Inner bonding emerged from Margaret Paul's frustration with traditional psychotherapy. After 17 years working as a therapist, Paul observed that clients would feel temporarily better after sessions but lacked the tools to handle new challenges independently. "People would feel better after a session but if something would happen in their lives they didn't know how to deal with it," she explains. "They had to keep coming in and coming in trying to get help but they didn't learn a process that they could use at any time."

Paul prayed for a healing methodology that would go deeper than symptom relief and enable people to help themselves. She eventually met Dr. Erica Chopich, who had developed the complementary half of what would become the inner bonding process. Over the past 34 years, this framework has evolved into what Paul describes as a worldwide methodology that creates measurable shifts in people's lives—sometimes in just one or two sessions.

Unlike traditional talk therapy, inner bonding is a repeatable six-step process that people can apply in any moment when they're struggling emotionally. The goal isn't to feel better temporarily but to develop an internalized capacity to access wisdom and guidance independent of an external authority figure.

How Does Taking Responsibility for Your Feelings Actually Work?

The core principle of inner bonding inverts the common assumption that our emotional pain comes from what others do to us. Paul illustrates this with anger: most people believe their anger is justified because someone else behaved badly toward them. "Most people think, well of course I'm angry—look what they're doing," she says.

Inner bonding teaches that anger is actually your inner self (what Paul calls your inner child, soul, or essence) angry at you. The real issue isn't the other person's behavior—it's that you've abandoned yourself in the face of that behavior. When someone is unkind, here's what typically happens: you get defensive, you explain yourself away, you shut down, you take it personally, you feel terrible, and then you blame them for how you feel.

The alternative is to turn inward and ask your inner self directly: "How am I treating you? What am I telling you? How am I judging you? How am I abandoning you? How am I not being an advocate for you in the face of what somebody else is doing?"

Your inner self might respond: "You're judging me just like that person. You don't stand up for me. You don't get me out of range when somebody is being mean. You let me get beaten up by this person. You're not taking care of me. You ignore me. You don't even know I'm here."

This shift—from blaming external circumstances to examining how you're abandoning yourself—is the foundation of emotional responsibility. You can't control what others do, but you can control how you respond internally and how you care for yourself.

What Does It Mean to Have Frequency and Why Does It Matter?

Paul introduces the concept of "frequency"—the vibrational level at which you operate—as essential to accessing higher wisdom and guidance. When your frequency is too low, you can't hear or receive guidance from your higher source of love and wisdom. This is where the physical body enters the equation in a direct way.

Much of what lowers frequency happens on the physical level. "There's so much junk in the food that people don't realize that it lowers their vibrance," Paul explains. "That's why there's so much illness going on and anxiety and depression—so much of it is on the physical level."

The problem is cyclical: even when people know what healthy eating looks like, they use food, alcohol, and drugs as coping mechanisms for feelings they don't know how to manage. Anxiety, depression, anger, loneliness, helplessness, heartbreak, shame, guilt, and jaw tension (stress-related) all drive people toward substances that temporarily numb the discomfort.

Paul points to the medication-junk food cycle as particularly problematic. Recent research shows that when people take medication while eating processed foods, the disruption to gut flora creates toxicity that travels to the brain—much like alcohol going to the brain—and this toxicity itself generates more anxiety and depression. "It becomes a vicious circle," she says, "and people have no idea what else to do."

How Does the Inner Bonding Process Address Addiction and Emotional Eating?

Paul's new book, "Diet for Divine Connection," addresses this exact dynamic. The first half focuses on raising physical frequency through food; the second half teaches the inner bonding process that creates the motivation and emotional capacity to actually sustain healthy choices.

The key insight is that people won't take care of themselves physically unless they value themselves. "If they think they're not good enough—which so many people have been brought up to have these false beliefs—then why would they be motivated to take care of themselves? We take care of what we value," Paul explains.

Inner bonding clients report consistent results: they get a handle on their anxiety and depression because they now know what to do about it. They become motivated to care for themselves physically, especially with what they eat. And their addictions start to fall away naturally. Paul hears repeatedly: "I haven't had a cigarette in two months" or "I'm completely off sugar for the first time I've tried so many times, but now I'm not even drawn to it."

This isn't white-knuckle willpower. It's what happens when you stop abandoning yourself emotionally. Food and substances lose their magnetic pull because you're no longer using them to escape or numb yourself.

What Role Does the Inner Child or Inner Self Play?

Paul distinguishes between different parts of the self. The "inner child" or "inner self" is your essence, your authentic soul, your vulnerability. This part is wounded by the messages you received growing up—from parents, caregivers, peers, siblings, and culture—telling you that you're not good enough, not lovable, not worth caring for.

There's also a "wounded self" or protector part that developed defensive strategies to survive emotional abandonment and criticism. This part has learned to shut down, wall off, give up, or engage in addictive behaviors to manage pain.

And there's a "higher self" or "higher brain"—your capacity to access wisdom, compassion, and guidance beyond your conditioned reactions.

When Paul says you need to "learn to love yourself," she means developing a relationship with your inner self the way a devoted parent would with a child. You become the caregiver for your own essence. This is radically different from how most people were parented and is why "in our society we don't have role models for that," Paul notes.

How Do Relationship Conflicts Show Us Our Inner Abandonment Patterns?

Paul uses couples dynamics to illustrate how the inner bonding principle plays out in interaction. In the honeymoon phase, partners are open, learning, and vulnerable. But when conflict arrives, each person reverts to protective patterns they learned early—ways they thought they needed to act to survive emotionally.

She gives an example: "Let's say one day the husband always comes in lightly, and you know, that's his way of not being controlled. That's his way of protecting themselves. Their learned protectors kick in." The wife might see his withdrawal as rejection and become afraid or angry. He might tell himself stories that justify his wall: "She's critical, she's controlling, she doesn't understand me." Both are now protecting themselves rather than connecting.

From the inner bonding perspective, the conflict isn't really about the husband's withdrawal or the wife's criticism. It's about each person abandoning themselves and their partner in reaction to feeling unsafe. Neither is taking responsibility for their own feelings or advocating for their own inner self.

"People don't realize that they've never learned to take responsibility for their own feelings and how to truly love themselves, and this is what the inner bonding process is about," Paul says. This is why relationships improve so much once people learn inner bonding—because they stop expecting their partner to manage their emotions and start doing it themselves.

What Is the Role of Pain in the Inner Bonding Process?

Paul makes a surprising statement: "You need the pain because the pain is the message." Pain is feedback from your inner self telling you that you're abandoning yourself. When you ignore that pain—by eating a cookie, sitting in front of the TV, scrolling through your phone, or numbing out—you shut down the messenger and miss the learning opportunity.

"Our frequency is too low" to access guidance when we're numb to our own inner signals, she explains. The discomfort is essential data. It says: "There's something here that we can't connect with. Something's happening—what is it?"

The practice is to notice the pain, turn inward with curiosity rather than judgment, and ask: "What's happening? Is there some way I'm abandoning myself right now?" Instead of escaping the feeling, you stay present to it and learn from it. This is how the wound begins to heal and your inner self begins to trust that you'll show up for it.

How Does Inner Bonding Lead to Accessing Higher Guidance?

Paul's core promise is that inner bonding teaches "how to have at will access to your higher source of love and wisdom." Most people want to know they're guided, but they don't know how to have two-way communication with their higher self or spirit.

The mechanism is frequency. When you're anxious, depressed, numb, or defensive—when you're abandoning yourself—your frequency is too low to perceive or receive guidance. When you turn inward with compassion, take responsibility for your feelings, and ask your higher self "What's loving to me right now? What's in my highest good?"—you raise your frequency and become receptive to answers.

This isn't mystical or vague. Paul describes it as a learnable skill. In her workshops and free online inner bonding course, people practice it repeatedly until it becomes natural—a new default way of being.

Where to Go From Here

If you're interested in learning inner bonding, Paul offers a free introductory course online. The Art of Living Retreat Center (where this talk was filmed) also hosts in-person workshops where you can experience the process with guidance and in real time with others.

The immediate practice is simple: notice when you're in pain or discomfort. Instead of numbing it, pause and ask yourself: "How am I abandoning myself right now? What does my inner self need from me?" Listen for the answer. This single shift—from blaming others to exploring your own responsibility—opens the door to everything else inner bonding offers: freedom from anxiety, freedom from addictive patterns, and access to a wisdom that's always available once you know how to tune in.

[0:04] hi everyone welcome to Sunday night

[0:07] thrive

[0:08] this week we're here with dr. Margaret

[0:10] Paul she is the author of inner bonding

[0:14] as well as diet for divine connection

[0:16] her new book which was just released a

[0:18] few weeks ago and welcome to the show

[0:21] Margaret thank you very much

[0:23] could you tell us a little bit about

[0:26] your new book to get started yeah I'd

[0:30] love to talk about it this is a book

[0:33] that really will teach people how to

[0:37] have at will access to their higher

[0:41] source of love and wisdom and I think

[0:43] most people would love to know that

[0:45] they're not alone that they're always

[0:46] being guided but they don't know how to

[0:49] have that two-way communication and so

[0:53] the first half of the book talks about

[0:57] well it's about frequency it's about how

[0:59] high we can keep the vibrancy of our

[1:04] energy and so the first half of the book

[1:07] has to do with our physical body and you

[1:10] know what's happened in our culture is

[1:12] that there's so much junk in the food

[1:16] that people don't realize that it's it's

[1:19] lower their vibrance yeah that's why

[1:20] there's so much illness going on and

[1:22] anxiety and depression so much of it is

[1:25] on the physical level and so I go very

[1:28] deeply into what's happening with the

[1:30] food and what needs to happen for people

[1:33] to raise their frequency on the physical

[1:35] level but the problem is that even if

[1:38] people know this and they know what it

[1:40] means to eat well they've got a lot of

[1:43] stuff in the way of that because you

[1:46] know food and alcohol and drugs and all

[1:48] that are used as you know very addictive

[1:51] ly by people because they don't know how

[1:54] to manage their feelings you know they

[1:56] get anxious they depress and get

[1:58] depressed they get angry they get lonely

[2:00] they feel helpless over situations they

[2:03] get heartbroken they feel shame they

[2:06] feel guilt they feel jaws they don't

[2:09] know what to do they don't know how to

[2:11] learn from their feelings they don't

[2:13] know how to

[2:14] we manage their feelings which is why so

[2:17] many people are on medication for their

[2:19] anxiety and depression because you know

[2:21] just take a pill put a lid on it don't

[2:24] deal with it well you know that has its

[2:26] own side effects as well and a lot of

[2:30] recent research has shown that when

[2:33] people take medication and they eat junk

[2:36] food it disrupts the the gut flora the

[2:39] microbiome and it and that toxicity that

[2:44] it creates goes right up into the brain

[2:46] it's just like if you drink alcohol you

[2:48] know it goes right up into your brain

[2:49] well the toxicity from food and from

[2:53] medications goes into your brain and

[2:55] that toxicity itself creates the anxiety

[2:59] and the depression and so it becomes a

[3:01] vicious circle and people have no idea

[3:04] what else to do you know the the

[3:08] medication isn't working really well for

[3:10] them they're stuck feeling really badly

[3:13] well my book really addresses all of

[3:16] this it addresses the the anxiety and

[3:20] the depression on the physical level and

[3:23] on the emotional level so the first part

[3:27] of the book is dealing with the physical

[3:29] level of what keeps our frequency too

[3:33] low to access our higher guidance at

[3:36] will and the second part is the inter

[3:38] bonding process because this is what

[3:40] people need in order to be motivated to

[3:44] take care of themselves physically if

[3:46] they're if they don't value themselves

[3:49] if they think they're not good enough

[3:50] which so many people have been brought

[3:52] up to have these false beliefs that

[3:54] they're just not good enough then why

[3:57] would they be motivated to take care of

[3:59] themselves we we take care of what we

[4:01] value in our bonding workshop and could

[4:09] you tell us a little about this core

[4:11] inner bonding process what yeah it's

[4:16] really an amazing process that that

[4:18] we've been evolving for the last 34

[4:20] years it's a process see I was working

[4:24] as a traditional psychotherapist for 17

[4:26] years

[4:27] I did not like what was happening with

[4:29] that I just did not see people really

[4:32] healing them on a deep level and I

[4:34] didn't see people pardon me

[4:36] Oh what were you seeing if I can ask

[4:38] well you know people would feel better

[4:40] after a session but they you know if

[4:43] something would happen in their lives

[4:44] they didn't know how to deal with it

[4:46] they had to keep coming in and coming in

[4:48] and trying to get help but they didn't

[4:50] learn a process that they could use at

[4:53] any time and so I started to pray for a

[4:57] process that would really go deep in

[5:01] terms of healing that people could learn

[5:03] to do and help themselves so they

[5:06] wouldn't always have to run to somebody

[5:08] if they were feeling badly well that's

[5:11] when I met the co-creator of inter

[5:13] bonding dr. Erica Cho pitch she had half

[5:15] the process I had half the process of

[5:17] course we had to meet spirit made sure

[5:19] we met and we put it together and it's

[5:22] been evolving all this time and now it's

[5:24] a worldwide process it's it's become so

[5:28] amazing I am so thrilled with this

[5:30] process it's been completely

[5:32] life-changing for me

[5:34] in my life is completely different than

[5:36] it was before inter bonding and I heard

[5:40] from people all over the world even

[5:41] people I don't work with who learn inner

[5:43] bonding on their own and their lives are

[5:46] completely changing and of course my

[5:48] clients I mean they're just sometimes

[5:51] one or two sessions and and everything

[5:53] changes for them and what are some of

[5:55] the results that you're hearing from

[5:57] clients these people riding in from

[5:59] around the world I'd be really

[6:00] interested to hear well one thing is is

[6:04] that they really get a handle on their

[6:06] anxiety and their depression and they

[6:08] learn what to do about they know what to

[6:10] do about it and then they become

[6:13] motivated to take care of themselves on

[6:16] many levels but especially physically

[6:18] with what they put in their bodies and

[6:21] then they find that their addictions

[6:23] start to fall away like if they're

[6:26] addicted to sugar or to alcohol I hear

[6:29] all the time I haven't had a cigarette

[6:31] in two months or I'm completely off

[6:34] sugar for the first time I've tried so

[6:35] many times but now I had not even drawn

[6:38] to it

[6:39] their relationships are improving so

[6:42] much because one of the things people

[6:44] don't realize is that they've never

[6:47] learned to take responsibility for their

[6:49] own feelings and how to truly love

[6:52] themselves and this is what the inner

[6:54] bonding process is about how to take a

[6:57] hundred percent responsibility for your

[6:59] own feelings and how to learn to truly

[7:02] love yourself in our society we don't

[7:05] have role models for that and so in

[7:07] order to know how to do it in any given

[7:10] moment you gotta have access to your

[7:12] higher guidance you see you gotta know

[7:15] how to say okay what's loving to me

[7:18] right now what's in my eye is good right

[7:20] now you got to know how to receive those

[7:23] answers and so this is what inner

[7:26] bonding teaches sorry

[7:29] ask what does it mean to take

[7:33] responsibility for our feelings like

[7:35] you're saying it's a very new concept in

[7:37] our culture that's right okay so let's

[7:39] say that you're angry and you're you're

[7:43] so convinced that your anger is because

[7:45] somebody else has been unloving to you

[7:48] somebody else has put you down judged

[7:51] you rejected you pulled away from you

[7:54] and of course most people think well of

[7:56] course I'm angry look what they're doing

[7:59] but in the inner bonding process what we

[8:02] teach is that the anger is really our

[8:06] inner or inner self which we can call

[8:08] our inner child or our soul or our

[8:11] essence

[8:11] angry at us because we don't know how to

[8:15] take care of ourselves in the face of

[8:17] somebody else's unloving behavior what

[8:20] we're doing is we're abandoning

[8:23] ourselves so somebody gets angry and we

[8:25] get defensive and we explain and we give

[8:29] ourselves up and we shut down and we

[8:32] take it personally and we feel horrible

[8:34] and then we blame the other person of

[8:37] course I feel this way because this is

[8:38] what you did but what we teach is to go

[8:42] is to turn it around and go inside and

[8:45] say to your inner self how am i treating

[8:49] you what am I telling you how am i

[8:52] judging you

[8:53] how am i abandoning you how am I not

[8:56] being an advocate for you in the face of

[8:59] what somebody else is doing that you're

[9:01] now angry at me and that in herself

[9:05] might say well you're judging me all the

[9:07] time you you're you're putting me down

[9:09] just like that person you don't stand up

[9:12] for me you don't get me out of range

[9:15] when somebody is being mean you you let

[9:18] me get beat up by this person you're not

[9:20] taking care of me you ignore me you

[9:23] don't even know I'm here

[9:25] you go up in your head you know I'm out

[9:27] with food you don't even know I exist

[9:30] because you've done everything you can

[9:33] to numb out me which is the feeling

[9:35] cells

[9:36] I'm the feeling self inside and that

[9:39] feeling self is a source of enormous

[9:42] information that feeling self lets us

[9:44] know whether we're loving ourselves or

[9:46] abandoning ourselves and so if we're

[9:49] feeling angry or we're feeling anxious

[9:53] or depressed or guilty or shamed or

[9:56] empty or alone or jealous these are all

[10:00] feelings that are saying you're

[10:02] abandoning me you're rejecting me and I

[10:07] need you to pay attention to me and when

[10:09] we feel peaceful and full and loved and

[10:13] valued then we know we're loving

[10:16] ourselves taking loving care of

[10:18] ourselves but most people they learned

[10:21] to completely disconnect from their

[10:23] bodies because we had to do that when we

[10:25] were growing up there was a lot of pain

[10:28] for most people and when we were little

[10:31] who taught us how to handle pain in fact

[10:34] the people who should have taught us may

[10:36] have been hurting us and so we learned

[10:40] to go up in her head we learned to

[10:41] disconnect dissociate from our feelings

[10:43] we learned to think feelings were weak

[10:46] we learn to think that we were bad if we

[10:48] were feeling our feelings we're supposed

[10:50] to just be okay all the time and so we

[10:53] learned to disconnect with the inner

[10:56] bonding process people learn to

[10:58] reconnect with their feelings they learn

[11:02] how to learn what their feelings are

[11:04] telling them they learn how to embrace

[11:07] their feelings with compassion rather

[11:10] than being judgmental towards themselves

[11:13] for their feelings and so these feelings

[11:16] they're here and they're they're

[11:17] speaking to us and so taking

[11:21] responsibility means we don't move away

[11:24] from our feelings we move towards them

[11:26] we move inside we move into an intention

[11:30] to learn in the inner bonding process

[11:32] there's only two intentions possible at

[11:35] any given moment one is you want to

[11:38] learn about how you're treating yourself

[11:41] what your false beliefs are

[11:44] what's loving to you the other intention

[11:47] is you want to protect against pain with

[11:50] some form of controlling behavior so

[11:53] there's only there's tension there's

[11:56] only these two intentions I either want

[11:58] to get love and avoid pain or I want to

[12:01] learn to love myself and share my love

[12:04] with others because truly unless we

[12:07] learn to fill ourselves with love we

[12:09] don't have love to share with others and

[12:11] this is one of the main problems that

[12:13] happens in relationships is people get

[12:16] into relationships abandoning themselves

[12:19] they feel empty they feel alone they

[12:22] feel unworthy unlovable and so they hope

[12:26] this other person is gonna make them

[12:29] feel whole and okay but the problem is

[12:32] we attracted our common level of self

[12:35] abandonment so if we're abandoning

[12:38] ourselves this other person is also

[12:40] abandoning themselves because someone is

[12:42] truly loving themselves isn't gonna be

[12:45] attractive to somebody who's abandoning

[12:47] and rejecting themselves and so then

[12:50] these two people who are rejecting and

[12:52] abandoning selves feeling empty alone

[12:54] and unworthy they come together and they

[12:56] have these huge expectations that the

[12:59] other person is gonna make them okay but

[13:02] they can't they're not making themselves

[13:04] okay they're not loving themselves when

[13:07] we don't love ourselves we don't have

[13:09] love to share with somebody else and so

[13:12] that relationship might be okay for a

[13:15] little bit but it's gonna falter

[13:19] and then people think oh I got together

[13:21] with the wrong person no that's not the

[13:24] issue you got together with the right

[13:26] person if you're both open to learning

[13:28] and learning to take responsibility for

[13:31] your feelings you see so it this is this

[13:35] is vital for for relationships for

[13:38] people to learn to love themselves which

[13:40] they're gonna learn to do in this course

[13:42] they're gonna learn the six steps of

[13:44] inter bonding they're gonna learn what

[13:47] it means to love themselves physically

[13:50] emotionally spiritually within

[13:53] relationships organizationally

[13:56] financially they're gonna learn what it

[13:58] means to truly show up for themselves

[14:01] and that's what creates the sense of

[14:05] fullness and peace inside beautiful

[14:08] times in relationships there is that you

[14:12] can see the honeymoon phase where it

[14:13] feels very nice and people feel

[14:16] connected like you're saying there's

[14:19] that it starts to falter and what is

[14:22] that from this viewpoint what's going on

[14:24] there well let's see at the beginning

[14:27] people are on their best behavior but

[14:31] people come into relationships if

[14:33] they're not loving themselves they come

[14:35] in with two major fears one is the fear

[14:38] of rejection and the other is the fear

[14:40] of losing themselves of being controlled

[14:43] and engulfed so fear of losing yourself

[14:45] fear of losing the other so at the

[14:47] beginning you know people are on their

[14:49] best behavior they're they're acting the

[14:51] way they think they need to act but when

[14:55] they're not taking care of their own

[14:57] feelings what happens is that these

[15:01] fears get activated see we all have a

[15:05] programmed part of us you can call it

[15:08] the ego we called the wound itself and

[15:10] this is a part that's programmed into

[15:13] our lower brain it it's in the

[15:16] fight-or-flight mechanism and we all we

[15:19] all develop this as part of our survival

[15:21] and this part of us is filled with a lot

[15:25] of fears and false beliefs so let's say

[15:28] two people get together and they're

[15:30] having a great time and they're having

[15:32] great sack

[15:33] really you know enjoying each other but

[15:35] then let's say one day the husband is

[15:39] late coming home from work and then

[15:42] maybe the next day he's like coming home

[15:44] from work and them and and the woman

[15:47] says well you know what's going on he

[15:49] said oh I just had a lot of work to do

[15:51] well now she's getting triggered into

[15:54] her fear of rejection and that wound

[15:56] itself starts to say oh he's losing

[15:59] interest in me he's finding out I'm not

[16:01] good enough maybe he's met somebody else

[16:04] she starts to get scared and when she

[16:08] gets scared she starts to act out with

[16:11] her programmed ways of trying to control

[16:14] so she may start to nag at him you know

[16:18] well you know it's not okay for you to

[16:20] always come in light and and you know

[16:22] you didn't used to come home late and

[16:24] whether you know what's really going on

[16:26] there well now his fear of being

[16:29] controlled gets triggered and he starts

[16:34] to feel trapped because now she's kind

[16:38] of you know she's nagging him her tone

[16:39] of voice isn't loving she's not open to

[16:42] learning she's just trying to control

[16:44] him and his fear is one of being

[16:47] controlled because most people have both

[16:48] these fears I'm gonna be controlled or

[16:50] I'm gonna lose the person well what he

[16:53] does when he when his fear of being

[16:56] controlled gets activated as he starts

[16:58] to shut down

[17:00] that's his way of not being controlled

[17:03] well the more he shuts down what do you

[17:05] think she does she starts to get angry

[17:08] and the more angry she gets the more he

[17:11] shuts down well pretty soon all the love

[17:15] that was there it's gone and that's when

[17:18] these people come in and they would

[17:20] start to work with me and she says in

[17:23] typical blaming fashion well if he

[17:25] wouldn't shut down I wouldn't be angry

[17:26] and he says in typical blaming fashion

[17:29] well if she weren't angry I wouldn't be

[17:31] shut down and in a sense they're both

[17:35] right but they're both wrong because

[17:37] they came in with these fears and they

[17:41] came in with their learned ways

[17:45] of protecting themselves their learned

[17:48] ways of trying to control which

[17:50] inevitably will get activated in any

[17:54] relationship so if these people don't

[17:57] know how to take responsibility for

[17:59] their feelings if she doesn't know how

[18:01] to go in and say I'm wondering what I'm

[18:02] telling myself that's causing me to be

[18:05] scared oh I'm telling myself he's met

[18:08] somebody else is that true do I really

[18:10] know that you know or I'm maybe I'm just

[18:14] making this up and scaring myself

[18:17] because inside she's feeling scared

[18:19] she's really insecure he's actually not

[18:22] doing anything to do that he probably is

[18:24] overworked right then but she's she's

[18:28] telling herself these things scaring

[18:31] herself have having no idea that she's

[18:34] the one doing it

[18:35] and so she has no idea how to take

[18:39] responsibility for her feelings so she's

[18:41] blaming him he then she gets angry he

[18:45] has no idea how to take care of himself

[18:47] in the face of her anger he has no idea

[18:50] how to say wait a minute what's going on

[18:52] here he doesn't know about moving into

[18:54] an intention to learn he doesn't know to

[18:58] say honey you seem really upset I really

[19:01] like to understand what we don't what

[19:03] are you telling yourself what's going on

[19:05] here that your nagging at me or being

[19:07] angry with me no he doesn't know how to

[19:09] do that and so he puts up the wall

[19:12] because he's afraid of being controlled

[19:15] he doesn't want to give himself up so

[19:17] all he knows to do is put up the wall

[19:18] and then she doesn't know to move into

[19:22] an intention to learn she doesn't know

[19:24] to say to him you know we've become

[19:27] distant and there must be a good reason

[19:29] and I'd like to understand what you see

[19:31] going on between us she doesn't know to

[19:34] do this because there's been no role

[19:36] modeling for that I didn't know how to

[19:38] do this until I started to practice at

[19:41] everybody I had no idea I did the same

[19:44] thing everybody else was doing but once

[19:48] these people start to understand how to

[19:51] take responsibility for their own

[19:53] feelings how to go in and learn from

[19:55] them how to access their higher guidance

[19:58] we

[19:58] guarding what's loving to themselves how

[20:01] to move into an intention to learn with

[20:03] themselves and with each other

[20:05] magically their relationship starts to

[20:08] improve that's what happens when I work

[20:12] with people

[20:12] it sounds really beautiful one thing

[20:15] you've mentioned a few times is this

[20:18] intention to learn being open to

[20:20] learning what is the significance of

[20:23] that are we really so close to learning

[20:26] in our fight-or-flight State yes we're

[20:29] very close because we've learned from

[20:33] childhood that we need to avoid pain at

[20:37] all costs because it overwhelms us we

[20:39] don't know what to do with it we don't

[20:41] know how to manage it and that's why I

[20:43] said so many people are on medication

[20:44] they just don't know what to do with

[20:46] their pain they don't recognize like

[20:48] like let's say you're you're slicing

[20:51] bread and you cut your finger you need

[20:56] that pain don't you what pain is telling

[20:58] us something that if you keep cutting

[21:00] you're gonna really hurt yourself now if

[21:03] you had numb to your handout before

[21:05] slicing the bread you could really cut

[21:08] into your your finger and really do harm

[21:10] and so you need the pain because the

[21:14] pain is saying stop you're doing

[21:16] something that's hurting me okay our

[21:20] emotional pain is saying the same thing

[21:22] you're doing something that's hurting me

[21:24] or somebody else is doing something

[21:26] that's hurting me

[21:27] and you need to tune in you need to take

[21:30] care of me you need to learn but because

[21:33] we didn't have the role model and

[21:36] because we've had someone to junk food

[21:39] and and medication and alcohol and all

[21:43] this stuff

[21:44] our vibrancy our frequency is too low to

[21:47] access the information that we need in

[21:52] order to love ourselves and it sounds

[21:55] like it's there that we can't connect

[22:02] with it's not like learning like going

[22:05] and reading a bunch of books acting was

[22:08] something that's available could you say

[22:10] yes yes you see our feeling

[22:12] when we show up as what we call inner

[22:16] bunny as a loving adult a loving adult

[22:18] is who we are when we're open to

[22:20] learning and we're connected with our

[22:22] higher love and wisdom so like if you're

[22:25] with a child and the child is upset and

[22:27] you say to the child well what's the

[22:29] matter now the child is not going to

[22:33] feel safe to tell you right nothing

[22:36] nothing or you know you say oh well you

[22:39] know here you are upset again here's a

[22:40] cookie go sit in front of the TV and

[22:43] well the child is not going to be helped

[22:44] by that it's the same thing on the inner

[22:47] level if we approach our feelings like

[22:49] well you know this is just going on and

[22:53] on you know this this should stop what's

[22:55] going on there is no way that our inner

[22:58] self is gonna let us in but if we're a

[23:01] loving adult and we're compassionate and

[23:04] we're open to learning rather than

[23:06] trying to control something you know

[23:10] eating the cookie and sitting in the

[23:11] front of the TV is a way to avoid that's

[23:14] a way to control but if we're a loving

[23:17] adult and we're compassionate and we say

[23:20] to our inner feeling self honey what's

[23:23] what's happening is is there some way

[23:26] I'm treating you is there something

[23:28] that's going on with somebody else

[23:30] that's causing this pain I'm here for

[23:32] you I really want to know we're gonna

[23:36] start to learn a lot about how we're

[23:39] treating ourselves or if we're saying

[23:41] you know we're with this person right

[23:44] now but you're feeling scared and

[23:46] agitated would you please tell me what

[23:49] you're picking up because we have we

[23:52] have intuition that most people will

[23:54] learn to avoid and and you know it's

[23:58] like when I was little and I was picking

[24:00] up things from people and my mother

[24:03] would say you know go hug Uncle Joe and

[24:06] in my stomach hugging Uncle Joe made me

[24:10] sick I was not allowed to honor

[24:15] my feelings well this is this is

[24:19] teaching people to honor so that if

[24:21] there was somebody and the energy feels

[24:24] really bad we learn to trust it and we

[24:28] learn to take care of it and this is a

[24:30] lot of what inner body is about learning

[24:33] to trust our inner guidance and learning

[24:36] to trust our higher guidance so that we

[24:41] can we become our own guru we access

[24:45] that information which is absolutely

[24:47] amazing when we're open to learning when

[24:50] we really want to know

[24:52] but if our if our goal is just to avoid

[24:55] paying which is what we learned to do

[24:59] there's no learning our frequency is too

[25:02] low we can't access that information

[25:05] when the intention is to protect and

[25:08] avoid and control we access it only when

[25:13] we're open to learning about what's

[25:15] loving to ourselves about our false

[25:18] beliefs about the truth and about loving

[25:23] action towards ourselves and with others

[25:26] so it's vital the intention to learn is

[25:29] basic to the inner bonding process and

[25:33] when we do open up with that intention

[25:35] to learn and we get in touch with our

[25:37] our inner guidance that feeling self and

[25:40] the higher guidance what are some of the

[25:43] common messages that people start to

[25:45] receive if there is anything Commodore

[25:48] is it very individualized no actually

[25:50] it's quite common very often when they

[25:53] go inside their inner self inner child

[25:57] whatever you want to call that feeling

[25:58] part is gonna say things like you ignore

[26:02] me all the time you don't even know I'm

[26:05] in here you ignore my feelings you don't

[26:07] listen to me you make other people's

[26:10] feelings way more important than mine

[26:12] other people come first and they always

[26:15] have or you're putting a lot of pressure

[26:18] on me you're telling me I have to be

[26:20] perfect you're judging me as not being

[26:23] good enough all the time of course I'm

[26:25] anxious of course I'm depressed what do

[26:28] you expect

[26:29] when you're treating me this way you're

[26:32] telling me that I have to do everything

[26:34] right so that so-and-so will think I'm

[26:37] okay you're rejecting me all the time

[26:40] you don't think I'm okay you don't treat

[26:43] me like I'm okay you're always telling

[26:46] me that unless this person or that

[26:48] person or this person likes me I'm not

[26:51] okay you're telling me I have to perform

[26:54] for them I have to achieve I have to get

[26:57] A's I have to make this amount of money

[27:00] I have to have this or that in order to

[27:03] be okay I have to look a certain way you

[27:07] don't know me at all

[27:09] you don't know who I am you don't know

[27:12] that I am this incredible beautiful soul

[27:15] within you you don't even know I exist

[27:19] these are some of the things that people

[27:21] tune into this is very important it's

[27:27] very profound yeah a lot of the viewers

[27:30] can relate to some of these notions as

[27:33] things that are know the chatter and the

[27:35] mind that we try to turn off yeah

[27:38] because you know many of our parents

[27:41] treated us like we weren't good enough

[27:44] like we had to be perfect like we had to

[27:47] perform that their love was conditional

[27:49] on how we looked or how many a is we got

[27:51] or or how many friends we had or

[27:54] whatever and so we absorbed all of that

[27:57] and then we start to treat ourselves the

[28:02] way we were treated by our parents or

[28:05] caregivers or peers or siblings or or

[28:08] the church or whoever and we just

[28:12] perpetuate the abuse the you know

[28:15] whether it's physically treating

[28:16] ourselves badly emotional really judging

[28:20] ourselves we perpetuate it then we

[28:22] wonder why we feel so bad in the process

[28:27] sounds so valuable

[28:28] are there obstacles that you encounter

[28:31] with people getting them started say yes

[28:35] you know yes yes people go into

[28:38] resistance

[28:40] the wounded part of us wants to keep the

[28:43] status quo the wounded part believes why

[28:45] I've kept you alive as long why rock the

[28:49] boat

[28:50] and so the wounded part says let's just

[28:53] keep doing what we're doing let's just

[28:55] keep the status quo

[28:56] and and also what happens is that if

[28:59] people grew up with parents who are very

[29:01] controlling they learn to be very

[29:03] resistant that fear of being controlled

[29:05] is very very big and so they they

[29:09] integrate that into their their ego

[29:12] wound itself and so they often have one

[29:15] part that's like the controlling parent

[29:18] you know you better do this you got to

[29:20] do that well you know get up early

[29:22] exercise don't eat any sugar stop

[29:24] drinking you know nagging nagging

[29:27] telling you what to do well then they

[29:29] have another part inside that's um

[29:31] that's learn to resist you can't tell me

[29:33] what to do you're not the boss of me I

[29:36] don't have to do what you say so it

[29:38] creates this inner power struggle where

[29:40] they get immobilized and this happens

[29:43] with a lot of people they just get

[29:44] immobilized they say yeah I want to eat

[29:47] well but you know I wake up and I say

[29:51] you know today I'm not gonna have any

[29:52] sugar and before I know it I'm eating

[29:54] the cupcake you know what's going on

[29:57] here what's going on is that this work

[30:01] these wounded parts of themselves which

[30:03] are many different ages inside are in

[30:06] charge and they've got this power

[30:09] struggle going on well until they

[30:11] develop the loving adult which is what

[30:14] happens when you practice in their

[30:16] bonding inner bodies like the workout

[30:18] for the loving adult one of the things

[30:21] that recent research shows is that our

[30:23] brains have neuroplasticity which means

[30:26] we can always learn we can always

[30:29] develop new neural pathways well we've

[30:32] got like railroad tracks in our lower

[30:34] brain you know for for judging ourselves

[30:37] for resistance for trying to control

[30:40] ourselves and others with the practice

[30:43] of the six steps of inner bonding you

[30:45] develop new neural pathways in your

[30:48] higher brain your prefrontal cortex the

[30:51] more you practice the

[30:52] six steps and they're very definitive

[30:55] and they're not that hard to learn but

[30:56] they take practice the more you practice

[30:59] them the more you develop your loving

[31:02] adult self so whereas I used to be

[31:06] addicted to sugar and I used to be

[31:08] addicted to anger and a whole lot of

[31:10] things as I practice in her bonding and

[31:13] developed these new neural pathways I

[31:16] don't have any of those anymore because

[31:19] I don't automatically go to my lower

[31:22] brain I now automatically go to my

[31:25] higher brain and so now if somebody

[31:29] brings in you know yummy sugar stuff

[31:32] which I used to eat all the time

[31:35] my higher brain says you know I love you

[31:38] so much

[31:39] and I know if I eat this I'm gonna cut

[31:42] you off from our guidance I love being

[31:44] connected at will to my higher guidance

[31:47] and I know if I eat this my my vibrancy

[31:50] my health everything is going to tank so

[31:53] I have no problem not eating it I'm not

[31:56] even tempted because it's not loving to

[31:59] me and my adult is in charge and one of

[32:02] the things that's BC I started here's a

[32:04] little interesting story I was a sickly

[32:08] child and I just hated being sick and so

[32:11] in my early 20s I started reading

[32:13] everything I could about health and I

[32:16] threw out everything in my kitchen and

[32:18] there was one little health food store

[32:20] in LA at that time and so I started

[32:22] eating all organic all fresh

[32:24] I was the health food nut okay that was

[32:29] 56 years ago I'm 78 now I have

[32:33] unbelievable health

[32:35] I have unbelievable energy I have no

[32:39] other itis I have no brain things you

[32:43] know awesome memory anything like that

[32:46] going on but I've been doing this for 56

[32:48] years so not only have I achieved this

[32:52] extraordinary health and energy by

[32:54] eating well but

[32:56] one of the things that became very

[32:58] important to me was this connection with

[33:01] spirit and so even though I was eating

[33:04] really well I still I still couldn't

[33:07] have it now I'm going to have it here

[33:08] and there but I didn't have it at will

[33:11] then inter bonding came in spirit

[33:14] brought us enter bonding and I realize

[33:16] wow the intention to learn is such a

[33:20] huge key and so I started practicing

[33:23] being open to learning practicing or

[33:26] bonding all of a sudden I have this quo

[33:30] this connection that's there I can

[33:32] access I ask questions I'm getting

[33:34] answers it was like amazing so I thought

[33:39] oh okay it's about the intention to

[33:42] learn and I start working with my

[33:45] clients getting them to open to learn

[33:47] they still can't access and I finally

[33:51] put it together that it was both how I

[33:54] was eating and the intention to learn it

[33:59] kept my frequency high enough to access

[34:03] my guide and said well and that's when I

[34:05] realized I had to write this book this

[34:07] is this is the this is the new book diet

[34:10] for divine connection and it says beyond

[34:12] junk foods and junk sots to at will

[34:15] spiritual connection that's what it's

[34:18] about because that's what I finally put

[34:20] together Wow it's about frequency and

[34:23] because I had been eating so well for so

[34:25] long once I open to learning it was just

[34:29] there and would you recommend people

[34:31] start with that book or your first book

[34:34] in her bonding well in Urbani actually

[34:36] wasn't my first book my first book was a

[34:38] much older one the one that was a huge

[34:40] seller was called do I have to give it

[34:42] me to be loved by you

[34:43] but if they're gonna come to the

[34:45] workshop I think the diet for the vine

[34:48] connection that that's the most recent

[34:50] one and that's the one that I think

[34:53] would be most helpful before they come

[34:55] to the work they don't have to read it I

[34:57] mean they're gonna get what they need

[34:58] but it's you know the more you learn the

[35:00] deeper you go in any experience you have

[35:03] so if people come having read it they're

[35:07] just gonna get a deeper experience

[35:09] if they don't have time on our website

[35:11] we have a free interbody course that's

[35:14] much shorter that will help them as well

[35:17] but you know sometimes people just don't

[35:19] like to read and that's okay they can

[35:22] just bring themselves and for people

[35:24] joining us live you'll find a link to

[35:26] both that inner bonding workshop online

[35:29] as well as to the book in the chat

[35:32] section and in the comments and Margaret

[35:36] since there is this kind of beautiful

[35:37] opportunity to experience the work in

[35:40] person could you share about kind of

[35:43] what happens in the in-person workshop

[35:45] and why that's so special and we've

[35:48] heard great things from participants

[35:50] there you could also share from your

[35:51] side yeah well see the workshop is a

[35:54] combination I'll be doing some lecturing

[35:57] but it's it's people go into small

[36:00] groups they they do processes there

[36:04] they're actually learning the process

[36:05] there at the beginning they're learning

[36:07] who the wound itself is who are they as

[36:10] a woman itself who are they as their

[36:13] inner self their true self who are they

[36:16] as a loving adult and what and and I

[36:19] teach them how to connect with their

[36:20] their higher source and then they go

[36:23] through the success of inner Bonnie with

[36:25] exercises there's questions there's

[36:28] discussion I work with a few people to

[36:30] show them what the process looks like

[36:33] and so yeah yeah they see it in real

[36:37] life they get a real-life experience and

[36:39] what so many people say even people who

[36:42] have been doing in Urbana for a long

[36:44] time is that there's nothing like

[36:46] getting a real life experience plus

[36:48] because I've been doing this for so long

[36:51] that they get the role modeling you know

[36:54] I'm very open about what I've been

[36:56] through and so they hear what I've been

[36:58] through and they hear what my life is

[37:00] like now and they see you know the

[37:03] amount of energy that I have and how

[37:06] easy it is for me to connect and they

[37:09] get inspired to you know to start to

[37:11] practice the process for themselves so

[37:14] many people that if people go to our

[37:16] website and they look under the

[37:18] testimonials for workshops so many

[37:21] people say

[37:22] I've been reading books I've been

[37:23] attending workshops I've had therapy for

[37:26] 20 years 30 years this is the first time

[37:29] I understand why I've been suffering and

[37:33] what to do about it

[37:36] and it's so beautiful you said about

[37:38] role modeling I feel it's

[37:41] underappreciated in our culture the

[37:43] value of a lived experience with someone

[37:46] who is you know a Mersenne is living

[37:49] what they're you know sharing with

[37:51] others yeah that's right and and I don't

[37:55] know about you but I've been to a lot of

[37:57] people and I'm all often disappointed

[37:59] and a lot of people say to me well I

[38:01] thought this person was gonna really be

[38:03] great but you know they're in their ego

[38:05] they're just trying to sell something

[38:07] they're not living what they're teaching

[38:08] and it's disappointing I've been doing

[38:12] this for so long and I've worked really

[38:16] hard to live what I teach and really it

[38:21] took me a long time before I felt ready

[38:24] to come out andand this is why see I

[38:27] hadn't I hadn't written a book in a long

[38:29] time sorry yeah yeah I hadn't written a

[38:32] book and that was one of the reasons why

[38:34] because I knew I needed to be in that

[38:38] place I needed to know that it works

[38:41] I needed to be living it in my own life

[38:44] before I could feel good about really

[38:47] putting it out there and now I mean I'm

[38:51] I'm blown away I am so grateful for my

[38:55] life at this point and and not only not

[39:00] only am I so grateful for the health and

[39:02] vitality I have but because I've been

[39:04] doing this I am able to manifest you

[39:09] know there's so much talk about how to

[39:11] manifest but people don't realize that

[39:14] they need to be in a high frequency they

[39:16] need to be loving themselves they need

[39:19] to be in connection with themselves and

[39:21] their guidance in order to manifest

[39:23] their dreams and so many people that I

[39:27] work with they don't even know what

[39:29] their dreams are they don't know what

[39:30] their passion is they don't know what

[39:32] their purpose is they don't know how to

[39:34] find it out

[39:35] they're unhappy in their jobs but they

[39:37] don't know what else to do we have a

[39:40] blueprint in our soul every single

[39:43] person has a blueprint for why they came

[39:46] to the planet for what they're here to

[39:48] offer for what would bring them joy to

[39:52] offer but that in herself isn't gonna

[39:55] tell them that blueprint until they feel

[39:58] loved until they know that there's a

[40:01] loving adult there who's going to take

[40:02] loving action on what they tell them and

[40:05] so as they learn and practice in our

[40:08] bonding and I seen this with thousands

[40:10] of people that I work with they get in

[40:12] touch with why they're on the planet

[40:14] they get in touch with what would really

[40:17] bring them joy to offer and that's very

[40:21] very exciting because that's why we're

[40:24] here we're here to evolve in our ability

[40:27] to love ourselves and to love others and

[40:30] we're here to offer our love in our own

[40:33] unique way

[40:34] we each have a lot of gifts inside that

[40:38] have been squashed down that have been

[40:40] judged that we don't know about through

[40:43] inner bonding we learn about these gifts

[40:45] we learn about why we're here and what

[40:48] we want to offer and when people tap

[40:50] into that it brings them enormous joy

[40:54] I'm very fortunate and that I learned

[40:56] many years ago about what I love to do

[40:59] obviously I love what I do

[41:01] and I'm always gonna do it I have no

[41:04] intention of retiring I can't even I

[41:06] can't even think about that because that

[41:09] would sound really boring oh I do I do

[41:15] and really I'm very very busy I work a

[41:19] lot but I love it I love it and so I

[41:24] have no desire to stop just so people

[41:27] know we're very grateful to Margaret for

[41:29] making the time for this webinar with us

[41:31] were you worked with her schedule and

[41:34] we're really glad that she could carve

[41:35] out time for this session with all of us

[41:37] ya know I'm happy to do it and I'm

[41:40] really looking forward to meeting

[41:42] everybody who's who's coming to the

[41:44] workshop and I you know I really

[41:45] encourage people who

[41:47] haven't been to one to to come to this

[41:50] workshop you will not regret it would be

[41:52] a very loving action for yourself to

[41:54] bring yourself to them its workshop and

[41:58] before we round wind-up do we have time

[42:01] for a short kind of inner reflection

[42:03] experience with you yeah okay

[42:07] so the first thing that people need to

[42:09] do is just take some deep breaths take

[42:13] some deep breaths and use your breath to

[42:18] get you out of your head and inside your

[42:21] body follow your breath as you go in and

[42:27] as you go in scan your body for any

[42:32] physical sensations any tightness and

[42:36] tension emptiness numbness nothingness

[42:40] whatever is in there is fine if you're

[42:44] feeling great that's fine too that's

[42:47] wonderful

[42:48] but tune into any physical sensations

[42:50] because emotions show up this physical

[42:54] sensation and breathe into them don't

[42:59] move away from them breathe into those

[43:02] feelings get present imagine that those

[43:06] feelings are an inner child and that

[43:11] inner child is letting you know that

[43:13] there's something to attend to even if

[43:18] there's just a little bit of tension or

[43:20] a little bit of numbness or emptiness or

[43:24] a little bit of anxiety just breathe

[43:26] into it and get present and have some

[43:30] compassion no judgement for the feeling

[43:34] I now take a moment to notice if there's

[43:41] something you're telling yourself right

[43:43] now some way you're treating yourself

[43:46] right now

[43:47] that might be causing a little bit of

[43:51] stress a little bit of a loner

[43:55] a little bit of emptiness just notice it

[43:59] without judgment no judgment just start

[44:05] to make a connection between how you're

[44:09] treating yourself what you're telling

[44:12] yourself and how you end up feeling

[44:16] inside just start to notice you'll even

[44:21] have to do anything about but just

[44:24] become aware and breathe that in okay so

[44:38] that's just a very brief introduction to

[44:45] step one and two of enter botany mm-hmm

[44:50] it's much more in depth when we go into

[44:53] it but that's just a very brief

[44:55] introduction of tuning in and noticing

[44:59] what's going on

[45:01] beautiful we're really looking forward

[45:04] to the workshop with you you'll find a

[45:06] link to the workshop in the chat box and

[45:09] in the comment section so please feel

[45:11] free to check that out learn a little

[45:14] more and clear up your calendar dates

[45:16] and thank you again Margaret for the

[45:19] time with us and for sharing so openly

[45:21] you're very welcome thank you Andrew in

[45:24] wishing everyone a thriving week ahead

[45:27] bye now am I

[45:33] you

Frequently Asked Questions

Inner bonding is a six-step repeatable process that teaches you to take responsibility for your own feelings rather than blaming external circumstances. Unlike traditional therapy, it's a tool you learn to use independently in any moment, rather than relying on a therapist to help you feel better.
Taking responsibility doesn't mean the other person's behavior is okay. It means recognizing that your pain comes from how you're abandoning yourself in response to their behavior—shutting down, giving yourself up, taking it personally—not from what they did. You can't control them, but you can learn to advocate for and protect your inner self.
Pain is feedback from your inner self telling you that you're abandoning yourself. When you numb the pain with food, alcohol, or distraction, you silence the messenger and miss the learning opportunity. Staying present to pain with curiosity allows your inner self to trust you and healing to occur.
Inner bonding addresses anxiety and depression on both physical and emotional levels. It teaches emotional skills that reduce the need for medication, and it motivates healthier eating and lifestyle choices that raise your 'frequency'—your capacity to access wellness and guidance.
When you're anxious, numb, or defensive—abandoning yourself—your frequency is too low to perceive guidance. When you turn inward with compassion and take responsibility for your feelings, your frequency rises and you become receptive to answers from your higher self about what's truly in your best interest.
People use substances to numb feelings they don't know how to manage. When you learn to care for yourself emotionally through inner bonding, you stop abandoning yourself and the emotional craving that drives addiction decreases naturally. You're no longer desperate to escape your own pain.
The practice is to notice the feeling, pause, and ask with curiosity: 'How am I abandoning myself right now? What does my inner self need from me?' Stay present with the discomfort rather than escaping it. This simple turn inward begins the healing and shows your inner self you're willing to show up for it.
