Heart-Centered Living BeyondSpiritual Performance

Danielle LaPorte

"Remember why you really truly totally love each other. Why you fell in love. Why you hired her. Why you love working together. The times you have scooped each other up. The deep laughs. The emergency phone calls. The road trips. Breathe into your heart and feel someone else's heart. Feel that that is real."

This is Danielle LaPorte asking you to remember. Not asking you to visualize, to manifest, to affirm your way into a higher frequency. Asking you to remember what's actually real beneath the performance.

For two decades, Danielle LaPorte has been a guide through the spiritual marketplace—that elaborate, often self-contradictory ecosystem of practices, books, philosophies, and gurus that promises transformation if you just believe hard enough, meditate long enough, consume the right content. But somewhere around 2017, when she published White Hot Truth, she began dismantling the very frameworks that had made her credible. She recognized in herself and the culture around her a dangerous pattern: spiritual seeking as sophisticated self-punishment, New Age ideology replacing the Catholic guilt of her childhood, a relentless pursuit of enlightenment that becomes its own cage. What she discovered was that the most radical spiritual act isn't transcendence—it's authenticity. That "heart-centered living" isn't a system to master but a return to what's genuinely true about you. And that the work requires not less rigor but different rigor: the rigor of showing up real, of staying present with contradiction, of radiating what you've actually learned rather than pretending it's finished.

How the Desire Map changed what goal-setting could be

Danielle LaPorte has been publicly working in spirituality and self-growth since 2006. When she started, the terrain was different. Goal-setting culture was still largely divorced from emotional intelligence. You set an objective. You made a plan. You achieved it or you didn't. There was no room for the subtler question: How do I want to feel?

The Desire Map, the book and planner system LaPorte developed, inserted exactly that question into the infrastructure of aspiration. Instead of "What do you want to achieve?"—a question the culture knew how to answer—it asked "How do you want to feel? What are the core desires beneath your goals?" This wasn't poetry dressed up as advice. It was a radical reorientation: the architecture of your life had to serve your emotional and spiritual needs, not just your credentials.

The work resonated. She wrote. She spoke. She was invited into the circle of what would become Oprah's Super Soul 100—that informal roll call of teachers shaping how conscious seekers think. And like many voices in that expanding space, she found herself in a position of authority. People asked her for answers, for systems, for the secret that would make their lives align with their values.

But authority, in the spiritual marketplace, is always a dangerous thing.

What happens when a guide admits the system has cracks

By 2017, LaPorte had built something real: readers, students, a framework that had genuinely helped people feel more authentically oriented to their lives. And then she published a book that questioned everything: White Hot Truth.

The book was an unflinching look at spiritual bypassing—the use of spiritual practice and philosophy to avoid genuine psychological and emotional work. Meditation as a sophisticated way to escape feeling. Breathwork as discipline masquerading as enlightenment. The obsession with "good vibes only" as a refusal to grieve, to rage, to be complicated and human. She didn't write about this as an observer. She wrote from inside the contradiction, naming her own patterns with surgical precision.

"I still have a bit of a Catholic hangover," she said in conversation. "I really just replaced Catholicism for like new ageism. I got rid of the ten commandments and I was like I'll do karma now." The specificity matters. She's not claiming to have transcended these patterns. She's claiming to be in relationship with them, aware of them, working with them. "Self-helping as self-punishment is still something that I have to be with," she continued. "I'm getting over it."

This is the opposite of the spiritual marketplace's usual transaction. Typically, the guide claims mastery. LaPorte claimed ongoing practice. Typically, advice flows downward. She redirected it inward. The minefield, she acknowledged, is still there. The lessons will keep repeating. The work is recognizing the pattern, being thorough with it, allowing it to move through you rather than pretending you've graduated beyond it.

From giving answers to embodying questions

The shift came slowly. For years, LaPorte's work had been advisory: the Desire Map was a system to follow, books to read, practices to undertake. The frame was "here is what I've learned; apply it to your life." But something changed. By the time she was speaking publicly about her current work, she was unambiguous about what she would no longer do:

"I have no interest anymore in giving advice. I have no interest in really in any kind of stealth loud activism. I have interest in cleaning up the war within myself and being radiant with that."

That phrase—"cleaning up the war within myself and being radiant with that"—isn't about transcendence or resolution. It's about presence. Not defeating the internal contradiction, not pretending it's resolved, but becoming luminous and alive with the work itself. This is the foundation of the Heart Centered Membership and the Heart Centered Facilitators Program she co-creates: not systems you download and apply, but spaces where people gather to practice authentic presence. Where facilitators aren't experts dispensing truth but experienced travelers who've learned to stay present with their own contradictions.

This is what maturity looks like in a spiritual context: not graduation, but deepening practice.

How heart-centered living differs from spiritual performance

To live heart-centered doesn't mean to abandon critical thinking or rational discernment. LaPorte writes about "the intelligence of love"—wisdom that coexists with rigor, not opposed to it. She can hold both the capacity to think clearly and to remain open to mystery. "I allow for critical thinking or allowing for unicorns rainbows and butterflies," she explained, suggesting that a truly integrated practice contains both skepticism and wonder.

Heart-centered living means showing up real. Letting people witness you change your mind in public. Making mistakes and staying present with them rather than disappearing into the next framework. It means remembering that beneath the professional identity, the role you play, the version of yourself you think you should be, there's something actually real. People who scooped you up. Conversations that mattered. Laughter that came without your permission.

This isn't sentimental. It's the most practical thing there is. A life oriented toward what's actually real rather than what the marketplace says should matter. The Instagram post she shared—the invitation to remember love, laughter, emergency phone calls, the scooped-up moments—isn't poetry. It's a practice. It's asking: beneath the performance, beneath the roles we play, what's actually real? What actually connects us?

Meditation as mental hygiene and the work of authentic presence

In her current work, LaPorte considers meditation "mental hygiene"—not mystical transcendence but basic consciousness maintenance. It's not a path to special experiences or higher states. It's like brushing your teeth for the mind. Her Heart Centered offerings include facilitated calls where people gather to practice staying present, to explore what it means to live from authentic desire in a world that constantly pulls attention outward and upward toward status, achievement, the next level. She's also started a podcast. She balances this with her life in Vancouver, Canada, where she's also a parent—the full complexity of showing up real in all the rooms of a life.

The work is active and alive, not a fixed system. Two live calls with committed facilitators. An MP3 recording for ongoing practice. The practice itself as the teaching. There's no graduation day, no moment where you've finally figured it out. There's just the ongoing opportunity to be thorough with the same lessons, to get them more deeply, to move through them with more consciousness.

Where to go from here

If you want to explore this work, you can find her at daniellelaporte.com. Instagram: @daniellelaporte. Facebook: Danielle.LaPorte.Inc. Or you can engage with her Heart Centered Membership and Facilitators Program—not as finished teachings from an expert, but as an invitation to practice alongside someone who's still deconstructing her own certainties, still questioning frameworks, still becoming radiant with the work.

The marketplace of spiritual advice is vast and profitable. What's rare is a voice willing to say: "I'm figuring this out too. I've mistaken new systems for freedom before. I know how easy it is to replace one form of self-punishment with another. And I'm interested in something simpler: How do we show up real? How do we remember love? How do we radiate what's actually true about us?"

The answer, it turns out, isn't in the next book or the deeper practice or the more exclusive workshop. It's in remembering. In breathing into your heart. In feeling someone else's heart and knowing that that is real.

[2:54] decade um and and just seeing your work

[2:57] and seeing all the different things that

[2:58] you've been doing i've really enjoyed

[3:01] witnessing uh all of the different the

[3:04] different twists and turns that you've

[3:05] taken with your work so thank you for

[3:07] being here

[3:08] i'm happy to be here decade

[3:11] sounds so long

[3:13] i know right it was like

[3:15] original original gangster yeah i feel

[3:19] you know i've been working in in the

[3:21] field of self-growth and spirituality

[3:23] now for

[3:24] publicly since 2006. so i feel like i

[3:27] saw you i'm pretty sure it feels like

[3:30] it's been a while and i think one of the

[3:32] first things that i came across in your

[3:35] work was the desire map and

[3:39] and really what i loved about your

[3:40] intention with the desire map was

[3:43] you know the heart centered goal setting

[3:45] and bringing in

[3:47] feelings with goals because at the time

[3:49] we had a lot of i don't know

[3:52] manifest and you'll get this but not

[3:54] really much of the understanding around

[3:57] it or the underneath of it but what

[3:59] really struck me was when you came out

[4:00] with white hot truth

[4:02] which is a book that you published in

[4:03] 2017 and what i loved about that was you

[4:07] yourself said

[4:08] you know i've been a spiritual seeker

[4:11] i'm into all of these things and

[4:13] um i'm noticing a lot of spiritual

[4:16] bypassing

[4:17] judgment of the self that can come from

[4:20] a lot of the the tropes or the the

[4:22] things that we're being asked to follow

[4:24] and

[4:25] i had come from a personal development

[4:27] background in my own

[4:30] seeking and exploring and had randomly

[4:32] found myself in the deep spiritual world

[4:35] because i was channeling which was never

[4:37] my goal and it was very interesting to

[4:40] me to see that very bypassing you were

[4:42] speaking about

[4:43] happening in our field and not not from

[4:45] everyone but it was it was definitely

[4:48] there so i loved when i saw you come out

[4:50] with that book and i saw an interview

[4:52] you did at the time and i thought this

[4:53] is great because

[4:55] you were really just sharing from

[4:57] experience

[4:59] um and guiding uh through some of the

[5:01] minefield that can be out there so i

[5:04] just wanted to give you a shout out for

[5:05] that because that was a that was a

[5:07] really cool moment when i saw you doing

[5:08] that

[5:09] thanks still a minefield

[5:13] like anything right yeah it's the same

[5:16] lesson

[5:17] it's the same lesson like i think

[5:19] you know we

[5:21] deal with

[5:23] a cluster of the same lessons

[5:26] in one lifetime

[5:28] and

[5:30] you can let that

[5:31] possible fact totally bum you out

[5:35] or you can feel relieved

[5:37] because

[5:38] you just have these few things to deal

[5:40] with they're going to be repetitive

[5:43] and you're going to think i'm this again

[5:46] um but you're going you have the

[5:49] opportunity to like be thorough with it

[5:51] and really get it and move on

[5:54] and so that is still my

[5:57] you know

[5:59] self-helping

[6:01] as self-punishment

[6:03] is still something that i

[6:05] have to be with

[6:07] i don't want to use the word confront

[6:08] i'm so i'm not interested in confronting

[6:11] anything anymore

[6:12] um

[6:14] but it's still up i mean i have

[6:17] a bit of a catholic hangover still

[6:20] um i really just replaced catholicism

[6:23] for like new ageism so i just like i got

[6:25] rid of the ten commandments and i was

[6:27] like i'll do karma now

[6:30] and i can see how there's still like a

[6:33] lot of

[6:35] uh

[6:37] punishment

[6:38] dialogue

[6:40] in there and

[6:43] i'm getting over it

[6:44] yeah

[6:46] do

[6:47] you does it surprise you

[6:50] where you find yourself today having

[6:52] been a voice and an advocate and a

[6:55] creator

[6:56] for all of the different things that

[6:57] you've been because i know

[7:00] looking into some of your history i know

[7:02] you were often working in

[7:04] you had some executive jobs you were

[7:06] in many ways supports sometimes to

[7:09] people who were let's say out there

[7:12] but for you now to have moved into that

[7:15] role where you are the voice or the

[7:17] figurehead for

[7:18] what it is that you're doing which i

[7:20] know is is is its own movement and

[7:22] organization of course goes beyond you

[7:24] but does it surprise you that

[7:26] you ended up here or do you feel like

[7:28] this was a

[7:29] destiny path for you that was always

[7:31] going to emerge

[7:34] the latter

[7:35] yeah i felt like i

[7:38] i didn't know what form it was going to

[7:40] take but i wanted

[7:42] to say something

[7:43] and i knew that what i wanted to say had

[7:45] to do with goodness

[7:48] and

[7:49] unity i wouldn't have called it unity

[7:51] consciousness

[7:53] when i was like had my shoulder pads

[7:55] but

[7:57] um i would i wanted to do something it

[8:00] was i thought about

[8:03] for a while i was going to go into

[8:04] fashion design but i really wanted to

[8:06] rock that industry and do like kind of

[8:08] eco-ethical and i was going to do these

[8:10] nude fashion shows just to like make

[8:12] this statement you know and then i

[8:16] thought

[8:17] for a while my path was going to be film

[8:19] and i was really like compelled by like

[8:21] being a documentarian and

[8:24] um

[8:25] and then this all you know

[8:27] one lily pad to the next and

[8:30] here i am just writing for a long time i

[8:33] don't and i still don't identify as a

[8:34] writer

[8:36] i write

[8:37] but

[8:38] it's not

[8:40] that's not what's important

[8:42] what's important is like i'm a seeker i

[8:45] consider myself a seeker i'm on the path

[8:48] i learn some things

[8:50] i might be able to help you

[8:53] flatten your learning curve a little bit

[8:56] i have no interest anymore in giving

[8:59] advice

[9:02] um i have no interest in

[9:05] really in any kind of

[9:07] stealth loud activism it's not for me

[9:12] um

[9:14] i have interest in cleaning up the war

[9:16] within myself

[9:19] and

[9:22] being radiant with that

[9:25] yeah and if it works for you cool if not

[9:28] like that's okay too

[9:31] yeah

[9:33] it's interesting you i i pulled a an

[9:37] instagram post of yours from a few days

[9:38] ago that i really it touched me and i i

[9:41] wanted to share it in this interview and

[9:43] just what you described makes me think

[9:44] of it

[9:46] remember why you really truly totally

[9:48] love each other why you fell in love why

[9:51] you hired her why you love working

[9:53] together the times you have scooped each

[9:56] other up the deep laughs the emergency

[9:58] phone calls the road trips

[10:01] breathe into your heart and feel someone

[10:03] else's heart feel that that is real the

[10:06] rest is transient

[10:08] we are not our beliefs we are not what

[10:10] we do or do not choose to put into our

[10:12] bodies minds garages bank accounts

[10:15] we are souls blessed to bump into one

[10:18] another

[10:18] feel that focus on that because anything

[10:21] other than love is a total distraction

[10:24] that lets fear slip in and divide what's

[10:27] meant to be united love no matter what

[10:32] i mean that that would be relevant in

[10:33] any day but i think given the the a lot

[10:36] of the division energy that we've been

[10:38] seeing play out in the last six twelve

[10:40] months that that was very moving and i

[10:42] saw how many people were moved by that

[10:44] so

[10:47] isn't it interesting you said you don't

[10:49] identify as a writer

[10:51] and i often wonder if

[10:54] we're never going to be able to identify

[10:55] ourselves as anything i mean sometimes

[10:57] we identify other people as a thing but

[11:00] of course they're far more than that

[11:01] thing and they're a multi-dimensional

[11:02] being in their life so

[11:04] i i hear that from every creator i ever

[11:07] get to talk to i know that myself

[11:10] and i believe actually it's a gift when

[11:12] we stop identifying with certain things

[11:14] but it's interesting because to read

[11:15] that you go oh

[11:17] that that's a beautiful piece of writing

[11:19] or channeling however you however you

[11:22] call that in but it's beautiful

[11:24] thank you

[11:25] yeah that is

[11:27] from the just the the

[11:30] god the suffering of relationships right

[11:33] now i just

[11:34] you know i have my own

[11:36] tangles in the entanglements

[11:39] but it's just like every day like you

[11:42] know i have this i have a heart-centered

[11:44] membership community

[11:46] we meet every two weeks and the

[11:47] questions now it's just like

[11:50] it's just this percolation of

[11:53] polarization everybody wants to know

[11:55] like how do i navigate

[11:58] coping with people who

[12:00] did this and didn't do that and

[12:03] marriages are splitting up because of

[12:05] different

[12:06] medical choices

[12:08] and

[12:10] we are more divided than ever i i don't

[12:12] think anybody can argue with that

[12:14] um

[12:16] and my experience has been like

[12:19] listen i fell in love with my friends

[12:21] for a reason

[12:22] i stuck around for a reason

[12:25] i and i

[12:26] so i my heart knows that i also

[12:29] cognitively and spiritually no i am not

[12:32] my thoughts

[12:34] i'm not my thoughts this is basic

[12:36] consciousness right like

[12:38] and if i'm not my thoughts

[12:40] then i

[12:41] am definitely not my beliefs

[12:45] and if i'm not my thoughts and my

[12:46] beliefs and neither are you or neither

[12:48] the people that i've loved for decades

[12:50] decades decades and i'm just going to

[12:54] remember like i just love them and who

[12:56] knows what's true right now you just

[12:58] can't i mean the truth with a capital t

[13:01] ineffable unknowable any great mystic

[13:04] will tell you that you can't know it

[13:06] somebody can't give it to you they can

[13:07] hint but you still have to have this

[13:09] opening awareness experience yourself

[13:12] so

[13:13] we think that what's going on in pop

[13:15] culture or mainstream or being passed

[13:18] around by influencers or major networks

[13:21] that are owned by the same white guys

[13:22] who are you know controlling everything

[13:25] like that any of that is true and then

[13:28] you can go even further

[13:30] and take like an even more mystical

[13:34] buddhist cosmic christian even

[13:37] perspective that like this

[13:40] this that we're doing now

[13:42] having bodies having this experience

[13:44] this is the dream

[13:46] and when you close your eyes and you tap

[13:48] in

[13:49] and you meditate or you reflect that's

[13:51] what's real

[13:53] so i'm not even concerned

[13:56] anymore like

[13:57] well i'm concerned i take that back i

[13:59] have deep concerns

[14:01] um but i look at so-called truth

[14:06] in this

[14:08] dimension now it's just like passing

[14:10] clouds

[14:12] and

[14:13] [Music]

[14:14] just like feelings and just like

[14:15] emotions and all those truths are just

[14:17] based on feelings and emotions anyway

[14:19] which all come from the subconscious

[14:21] so

[14:24] back to

[14:25] when somebody says what do i do about

[14:27] arguing with my mother-in-law

[14:30] or my friend who wants to dump me

[14:32] because she's

[14:34] doesn't like my choices yeah

[14:37] or what do i do what do we do about the

[14:39] taliban

[14:43] um

[14:45] step one you feel the sorrow you don't

[14:47] reject it

[14:49] you even feel the rage you just feel it

[14:51] all you let it all in

[14:53] and

[14:54] step two

[14:56] you just

[14:59] look at it all within yourself

[15:01] because it's easy i can say i can

[15:06] talk about love i consider myself

[15:09] a loving person i know i'm a loving

[15:11] person i have to consider i am a loving

[15:13] person

[15:14] and

[15:16] i i want to hammer some people some days

[15:20] and i can get on that quickly

[15:23] but

[15:24] even though that's just a seed frequency

[15:27] in me

[15:28] it's just a seed it's small it's still

[15:31] within me

[15:33] now with other people it's a daily

[15:36] diatribe it's being a member of the

[15:38] taliban

[15:40] it's mandating ridiculousness it's

[15:42] totalitarianism but i have seeds of to

[15:45] telling totalitarianism within myself

[15:49] so i got to work on that

[15:52] yeah well it's interesting how we're all

[15:55] we're all seeded by everything that's

[15:57] out here and that we were born into it's

[15:59] like sure we're a unique soul but we

[16:01] were also born into a certain

[16:04] human construct at a certain time on

[16:07] earth and you know we that becomes our

[16:09] clothing too so i i i so agree with you

[16:13] um

[16:14] and you'll hear many well you'll hear

[16:16] different things from different people

[16:17] there are some people who are going well

[16:18] i just i'm going to clean up inside

[16:20] myself and that's how i'm contributing

[16:22] and then there are other people who are

[16:23] out there being activists and it kind of

[16:25] just goes back to what you

[16:27] what you said about you know the truth

[16:29] is relative depending on

[16:32] someone's experience someone's belief

[16:34] there are there are many truths

[16:35] colliding at the moment but it's

[16:36] interesting what you said about your

[16:38] membership group

[16:39] um

[16:40] my membership community which we've had

[16:42] for eight years the portal

[16:44] the intensity of the questions

[16:46] yes and the

[16:50] i'll say the weight of the questions and

[16:52] the heaviness and the heartbreak and the

[16:55] sorrow in the questions um or the

[16:57] anguish it has has been really higher

[17:01] than we've ever seen in eight years in

[17:03] the last year or so

[17:04] um

[17:05] so it's coming

[17:07] yeah

[17:09] yeah i uh i i i channel and and they

[17:13] have said to me for many many years that

[17:15] you know you have this is a period of

[17:17] time and it's going to continue so you

[17:19] have to fortify yourself and figure out

[17:22] how to

[17:23] balance yourself while we while we go

[17:25] through it

[17:26] how do you balance yourself i mean it's

[17:28] an obvious question but i think it's a

[17:30] question that at the moment many people

[17:33] are looking to up their balance game

[17:35] like are there any practices you have or

[17:38] are there certain things you go to

[17:40] well

[17:42] there's a there's a

[17:44] precursor answer to that which is

[17:48] you know a few years ago i went through

[17:49] a really dark night

[17:52] and

[17:53] i was awake enough at the time i think

[17:55] this will be of service somehow someday

[17:58] couldn't see getting to the other side

[18:00] but i knew

[18:00] and now i can see

[18:02] every challenge every challenge

[18:05] has felt like now in retrospect like

[18:07] boot camp for this

[18:10] and so i'm more grateful than ever

[18:13] first challenges in the past and it also

[18:16] helps me be

[18:18] really present like i'm grateful i went

[18:20] through that i'm more resilient i'm more

[18:23] compassionate i'm more resourced

[18:26] and it allows me to see that

[18:29] it really is all divine there really is

[18:32] a bigger plan

[18:34] suffering comes with great purpose

[18:36] we can transmute all of it we don't want

[18:39] you know i don't want unnecessary

[18:41] suffering but whatever my soul doles out

[18:44] i'm gonna try and

[18:46] tango with it you know

[18:47] and then in present day because things

[18:50] are going good now

[18:52] um

[18:54] i have to meditate

[18:56] so like if i ever wanted to just like

[18:59] point at something people like what i'm

[19:00] just like sister brother

[19:02] mister

[19:03] you gotta meditate

[19:06] and that's all like

[19:09] it's there's it's mental hygiene

[19:13] it's spiritual connection

[19:15] i mean we could get into the

[19:17] the nuances of that right like

[19:19] lots of people sitting down with their

[19:21] apps saying that they're meditating

[19:25] okay it's good to pause it's good to

[19:27] watch your breath

[19:29] there's also just like opening your

[19:31] heart up to a divine connection

[19:34] which is

[19:35] what i'm

[19:36] i'm down for these days so i meditate

[19:39] every day

[19:40] i'm in a practice currently where i've

[19:42] decided to stick with the same

[19:44] meditation

[19:45] until i decide to not stick with it i'd

[19:48] see myself this is part of my

[19:51] my uh striving my spiritual striving

[19:55] is i'm just like i'm going to do that

[19:57] meditation and that meditation because

[19:58] more meditations is better you know i

[20:00] went through a whole period of longer is

[20:02] better

[20:02] and it was like more variety is better

[20:05] and now i'm just sitting

[20:07] and some days i dial it in and some days

[20:10] i feel

[20:11] the infinite

[20:13] but i'm going to keep going you know and

[20:17] i have to be in nature i

[20:20] you know at the beginning of

[20:23] this world health situation

[20:26] i felt

[20:29] obsessed with my mortality

[20:32] and then that turned into this

[20:35] compulsion without it being

[20:38] you know like a really healthy

[20:39] compulsion

[20:40] to simplify so it's like in the last

[20:43] year

[20:44] um well phase one was i turned to god

[20:47] and said

[20:49] take my desires i'm going to give you my

[20:51] three big desires like

[20:53] um i want to live

[20:55] and i want to like have a career and i

[20:59] want to be partnered with an awesome

[21:01] person and just take them all

[21:04] take it

[21:05] it was long it was it was arduous and uh

[21:09] but i really let go

[21:10] and then it all came back

[21:13] and i decided

[21:15] i want to live

[21:17] in fact i want to live more than ever

[21:19] like

[21:20] any hangover i had about like i want off

[21:22] this planet not in a suicidal way but

[21:25] like

[21:26] please get me out of babylon

[21:28] statement common statement yeah right i

[21:31] want to go back to my star home you know

[21:33] that's gone

[21:35] it was gone and that letting go like i'm

[21:37] good to die i don't want to leave my son

[21:39] but i'm not afraid and i let that go as

[21:42] like if i'm gonna die because of this

[21:45] what

[21:46] okay

[21:47] and then i decided no i'm here i am here

[21:49] for this

[21:51] lee

[21:52] and

[21:53] then

[21:53] career i was like i can

[21:56] give up all my stuff

[21:58] and

[21:59] i don't know i've been a waitress before

[22:01] i can figure it out

[22:02] and then

[22:04] partner i'm good my life is so full of

[22:07] love

[22:08] i can just if

[22:10] i can just live like an urban nun i'm so

[22:13] down

[22:14] and

[22:16] over a period of time like it all the

[22:17] cat came back

[22:19] and

[22:20] um

[22:21] i decided why would i not do what i do

[22:23] for a living

[22:24] i'm designed to do this be silly not to

[22:28] and

[22:29] um

[22:30] and then i decided yeah i'm i'm open to

[22:35] an awesome dude

[22:37] and the first date i went on ended up

[22:39] being my life partner

[22:41] so like

[22:42] but but what shifted and all of that was

[22:45] the striving around it and

[22:49] i simplified so this is a longer answer

[22:52] to i meditate every day and i super

[22:54] simplified my life i got rid of half of

[22:56] my

[22:57] things

[22:59] the sofa and the shoes and most of it

[23:03] and i moved to be by the ocean in a

[23:06] little apartment with my kid and

[23:09] simplified my business

[23:10] and

[23:11] um

[23:14] and i get my sleep

[23:16] and i'm also going out of my way

[23:20] to

[23:20] [Music]

[23:21] listen to people

[23:24] out of my way these days like just

[23:27] wow tell me

[23:29] how you felt when that happened like

[23:31] what's your experience why do you hate

[23:34] those people

[23:35] why do you disagree with me oh that's

[23:37] interesting i'm just fascinated by

[23:40] everybody's so-called side right now

[23:43] yeah

[23:45] thank you

[23:47] it's funny you you talk about the

[23:49] simplicity and i i wrote something that

[23:51] you had said and i i it struck me it's

[23:54] beautifully written but it conveys so

[23:56] much

[23:57] simplifying is the rapture that comes

[24:00] after the complexity you wish you'd

[24:03] avoided yeah

[24:05] and i thought i can't remember where i

[24:07] found that it's either on your website

[24:08] or somewhere but

[24:10] that sentence just yeah simplifying is

[24:12] the rapture that comes after the

[24:14] complexity you wish you'd avoided yeah

[24:17] like i feel like a fool with great

[24:20] self-compassion i feel like a fool

[24:23] for wanting and going after

[24:26] most of what i went after

[24:28] it's just

[24:31] but do you not think you needed to you

[24:32] see the way i i i guess the way i see it

[24:36] is i i think sometimes we have to go

[24:38] into that experience to either be done

[24:40] with it to let it go or because then we

[24:42] can see the next step at least that's

[24:43] been my perspective or

[24:45] is it different for you

[24:48] well it just doesn't feel very

[24:49] efficiently right

[24:52] it's

[24:53] no i i get that and i feel

[25:00] i really understand the power in being

[25:03] prodigal

[25:05] like you have to have left i'm just

[25:07] echoing what you're saying like

[25:09] it's one like let's just go but i'll

[25:12] just give you the cliff's notes on the

[25:13] prodigal right for anybody who hasn't

[25:14] heard it like the beauty of the story of

[25:16] the prodigal son so you know the father

[25:19] has many sons and one leaves and goes

[25:21] and lives with pigs and squanders his

[25:23] life and is you know full of vices and

[25:26] the other son you know one of the sons

[25:28] stays and is very loyal and toils on the

[25:30] farm and the the the vice-full sun comes

[25:35] back

[25:36] and the father is showing him more favor

[25:38] and affection than the son who stayed

[25:41] and the son whose state is quite

[25:42] resentful and says hey

[25:44] i've been here all this time and you're

[25:46] you're loving him more and the father

[25:48] says but yeah to to to depart and come

[25:51] back

[25:53] takes great character

[25:55] it's like this to convert

[25:58] to go in the dark and then come back and

[26:00] like she's like so

[26:02] i get that and i've been doing i've been

[26:04] doing some more um

[26:07] like real research into vices and

[26:09] virtues and just classical teachings

[26:11] around that it's a lot it's it's really

[26:13] what a heart-centered life is about

[26:15] committing to that frequency of virtue

[26:18] and

[26:20] the conclusion is that

[26:22] a vice is a misused virtue

[26:27] and

[26:29] i'm just i'm just writing about this now

[26:31] my observation with the classic villain

[26:34] story is like all villains are in grief

[26:38] so like you look at darth vader

[26:41] he's really just a heartbroken jedi so

[26:44] he was all for love

[26:46] when he was anakin you know

[26:48] and then lost his love

[26:50] and then just turned that force

[26:53] into

[26:54] villain ray it's fascinating

[26:56] so

[26:57] sorry i just went down a rabbit hole

[26:59] there where were you

[27:00] i am a big star wars fan from childhood

[27:03] and b i read a very interesting article

[27:06] a few years ago about dictators in the

[27:08] world and

[27:10] how the

[27:11] tormented or abusive childhoods that

[27:14] that literally like 95 percent of them

[27:16] had had

[27:17] had contributed to their ability to then

[27:20] inflict

[27:22] pain and suffering knowingly on large

[27:25] groups of people so

[27:28] yeah

[27:30] that's i mean

[27:32] there's a whole other conversation well

[27:34] i'll tell you what i'm interested in in

[27:36] villanry and dictatorship which is

[27:39] really alive and well

[27:42] and

[27:44] i see how leaders have you know platform

[27:46] themselves on virtues and they're

[27:49] misusing them and it's turning into vice

[27:52] but also i'm very interested in

[27:57] the collective shadow

[28:00] and

[28:01] if everyone is playing a role in our

[28:04] awakening

[28:05] that means everybody

[28:07] everybody everybody even the dark guys

[28:10] are involved in the awakening

[28:13] and i wonder if a soul

[28:16] takes on that role

[28:18] to really take the hit

[28:20] like

[28:22] i so and so i'm going to incarnate and

[28:24] do the dirty work that needs to be done

[28:27] to show you all the shadow

[28:30] that exists within you

[28:32] i don't know i don't know this this is

[28:34] stuff i think about when i'm walking you

[28:36] know i go for my walks on the seawall

[28:38] what do you think

[28:41] a couple of different things like i have

[28:43] my own perspective but whenever i

[28:44] channel my guides it's always

[28:46] interesting because of course they are

[28:48] not coming from a human perspective

[28:50] they're coming from up here and from

[28:52] their perspective they will say

[28:54] that uh you know what we inc

[28:57] one thing they will say a lot which

[28:58] always makes sense to me is that we are

[29:01] tiny ants

[29:03] in the scheme of our position as human

[29:05] beings our time on earth in each

[29:07] incarnation and the progression of

[29:10] what's happening here on the planet and

[29:12] so

[29:13] we are compelled to get very emotionally

[29:16] psychologically and physically invested

[29:19] in everything that's going on here but

[29:21] they kind of just see it a little bit

[29:23] like the way you see lights from a plane

[29:24] when you're flying at night over a city

[29:27] they say there is a there is a jigsaw

[29:29] taking place and it's constantly moving

[29:32] and they

[29:33] they talk about um

[29:35] catalysts for change and how we each

[29:37] come back here

[29:38] and embody and take on different roles

[29:41] that will both serve our soul

[29:43] development and

[29:45] serve the map of what's going on at that

[29:47] time so for sure you know you can look

[29:49] at

[29:50] some of the you could say agitators on

[29:52] our planet uh culturally or collectively

[29:55] and they are playing out a role that we

[29:58] are also playing back

[30:00] because we are then in relationship to

[30:02] them it's the same as the empath

[30:04] narcissist dynamic the narcissist isn't

[30:07] the evil person that you might want to

[30:10] call them on your journey of healing as

[30:12] the one who played the empath in that

[30:14] dynamic but actually you're equally

[30:16] attracted to each other you're equally

[30:18] wounded in different ways

[30:19] and the trick is to go well can we

[30:22] can we come out of this and learn why i

[30:25] allowed myself to go into that dynamic

[30:27] and why it was unhealthy for me and how

[30:30] i will change my behavior so that i

[30:32] don't end up in that again and

[30:34] i think the big question for everyone

[30:36] certainly people i speak to right now is

[30:39] what we're seeing moving across the

[30:41] world as a shadow is it something

[30:43] we will

[30:45] co-create agree to

[30:47] allow is it something we should resist

[30:51] and it's very interesting because

[30:52] everyone's very different on how they

[30:54] feel about it how they act around it all

[30:56] of us

[30:57] so i think the answer is both

[31:02] someday i'm going to write a book called

[31:03] the answer is both but

[31:06] this is my experience or perspective

[31:08] it's an emerging experience like

[31:12] i'm gonna go i gotta go with what's

[31:14] happening

[31:15] why resist what's happening

[31:19] and at the same time to be

[31:23] a stand for if you want although that

[31:25] sounds a bit oppositional but like i am

[31:28] for the light

[31:30] like i s look it all comes from the

[31:32] light

[31:33] in in my view it all comes from the

[31:36] light the shadow comes from the light

[31:37] the darkness comes from light like we

[31:39] all come from the same source and the

[31:41] source is love so i'm going to continue

[31:44] to like

[31:45] turn my consciousness

[31:47] up and open and back in my thoughts and

[31:49] all of that my work to light

[31:52] to love to group

[31:55] love to group determination

[32:01] so

[32:02] it looks like that choice is in

[32:04] opposition to the darkness

[32:06] it's just large enough one would hope

[32:09] large enough to like hold the darkness

[32:13] so it's like hey darkness i know we're

[32:15] from the same mother

[32:17] i also know what's right

[32:20] so we protect children and we protect

[32:23] the the resources of the body of mother

[32:26] earth

[32:27] and we are a stand to embody goodness

[32:30] and truth and compassion we all come

[32:34] from that

[32:37] that's where i'm at that's where i'm at

[32:39] today totally but it but it's

[32:41] interesting isn't it because the the

[32:43] spell of fear that can overcome any of

[32:46] us

[32:47] i think can

[32:48] steer us away from having such an

[32:50] encompassing or heart-centered approach

[32:53] to people to the world

[32:55] um and and it's interesting to watch how

[32:59] uh a lot of the judgment

[33:02] that

[33:03] i've seen flying around

[33:05] lately

[33:07] it

[33:08] it rarely comes from heart i mean if

[33:11] someone is giving you guidance saying oh

[33:14] you you need to protect that child

[33:16] they're not usually

[33:18] harsh or

[33:20] they might be firm

[33:22] but what i'm witnessing and seeing and i

[33:24] think what i'm hearing that many people

[33:26] are alarmed by

[33:28] is how the

[33:30] if you like the the driver of fear or

[33:33] anxiety or an activated nervous system

[33:36] because of everything that's going on

[33:37] is is leading to more

[33:40] conflict

[33:41] push against division

[33:44] that's kind of something that i'm just

[33:47] sitting with

[33:48] but

[33:49] people are scared of

[33:52] i think that one thing that that i that

[33:55] i'm surprised by is i i think there is a

[33:58] total fear of death that that we have as

[34:00] a culture

[34:02] that has driven so much of the hysteria

[34:05] in the last 18 months

[34:07] and i'm not talking about not having

[34:08] compassion for people who are dying from

[34:11] anything whether it's a specific health

[34:13] thing that we've been dealing with or or

[34:15] anything

[34:17] but for me a fundamental truth is we are

[34:19] going to die and we might die when we're

[34:22] 90 if we live a long life and we might

[34:23] die when we're seven we don't know

[34:26] and and i think because there is a an

[34:28] amnesia about that culturally

[34:31] there is a hysteria that

[34:33] from my perspective has often been blown

[34:36] out of proportion and then people are

[34:38] acting

[34:39] from that place and i'm not saying

[34:42] they can't make the choices they're

[34:44] making but there's there's a lack of um

[34:48] critical thinking or allowing for

[34:50] different sides to be considered

[34:53] so it goes back to what we talked about

[34:55] with

[34:56] totalitarianism authoritarianism and

[34:58] seeing

[34:59] that oh this is the dimension that

[35:02] culturally and collectively we're being

[35:04] asked to

[35:05] move towards

[35:06] but what i'll also say danielle it goes

[35:08] back to what you said a moment ago

[35:10] i've never felt more

[35:13] aligned purposeful or awake at this

[35:15] moment in my life than i ever have

[35:18] and i can say that with full authority

[35:20] and if you'd have said to me that will

[35:22] coincide with a time in the world when

[35:24] the world looks like this if you'd have

[35:25] said that to me 15 years ago i'd have

[35:26] gone well how what do you mean they're

[35:29] so those are two completely discordant

[35:31] things so i also totally hear what you

[35:33] were saying about

[35:35] does the shadow wake us up you know we

[35:38] all know that awakening is is not pretty

[35:40] unicorns rainbows and butterflies for

[35:42] most people it can be for about a few

[35:45] days or weeks and then often you're

[35:47] plunged

[35:48] you're plunged into the furnaces to burn

[35:50] all the things away that you didn't know

[35:51] you were going to have to burn away

[35:54] the furnace i

[35:56] am so with you it's the fear of death

[36:00] yeah

[36:03] and it's interesting to me that we're

[36:04] willing to because of our fear of death

[36:08] surrender our ability to live

[36:10] because that's the other thing i'm kind

[36:11] of witnessing it's like oh wow peop

[36:14] people and we as a culture are

[36:17] willing to

[36:18] diminish

[36:20] certain aspects of the way we live

[36:21] certain fundamental things that are

[36:23] really important to us

[36:25] in order to protect ourselves from that

[36:28] so for how long and in what way and

[36:30] where it will all go we remains to be

[36:32] seen but

[36:34] uh i think one thing you said earlier

[36:36] that i know many many people

[36:39] who gather around the work i put out

[36:42] there

[36:43] we all know so well that sentence i

[36:45] don't want to be here wrong planet wrong

[36:47] life surely this isn't the incarnation

[36:50] i i also

[36:51] feel

[36:53] even as we're talking about what we're

[36:54] talking i've never felt more committed

[36:56] to being here even with everything

[36:58] that's going on that's potentially

[37:00] more troubling heartbreaking or

[37:02] mystifying than

[37:04] myself years ago could have ever handled

[37:07] like could have ever been able to to

[37:09] kind of be with and

[37:10] what's your

[37:12] relationship to fear right now

[37:18] it's a good question what's my

[37:20] relationship to fear right now

[37:26] i can't answer that from a mental place

[37:29] but what i i got an image of the tarot

[37:32] card the fool and and i heard laughter

[37:35] there's a part of there's something

[37:38] about fear for me right now

[37:42] interestingly that seems i won't say

[37:44] laughable because fear can be a very

[37:46] destructive force for all of us but this

[37:50] i don't believe it the way i used to

[37:53] believe it i think that's possibly where

[37:55] this is coming from where this in this

[37:56] moment

[37:58] i i don't take fear seriously

[38:01] as much as i used to

[38:06] maybe that's where i'm sitting today i

[38:08] don't know

[38:09] cause it can all change of course but

[38:11] um yeah i don't know if that answers the

[38:13] question

[38:14] yeah brilliant yeah how about you

[38:19] i've been experiencing a lot of fear

[38:21] and it's been

[38:24] unsettling because you know fear sucks

[38:26] but

[38:27] it's

[38:28] this is what i learned

[38:30] is

[38:32] you take a step towards beauty and chaos

[38:34] is going to come up you take a step

[38:36] towards joy and sorrow is going to come

[38:38] up you take a step towards life

[38:41] and love

[38:42] and fear is going to come up so it's

[38:44] sort of thrown me

[38:46] it's it's been like being in a washing

[38:47] machine

[38:49] but i finally figured it out

[38:52] like

[38:52] [Laughter]

[38:54] so now

[38:56] now that i can see that

[38:58] phenomenon

[39:00] really in my life and also i was i came

[39:03] across

[39:04] some teachings from pemacho drone who

[39:06] you know i love her work and she was

[39:08] talking about you know in the early days

[39:10] when she was really committing to

[39:11] buddhism

[39:12] and she was gonna give it as a nun

[39:16] she started experiencing all of this

[39:19] fear

[39:20] and she said to her i think the llama

[39:23] who became her root teacher just like

[39:25] i'm scared all the time he's like

[39:27] welcome to the work

[39:29] and you know when you you move down the

[39:31] road and the fear dissolves and you can

[39:34] laugh at it hopefully

[39:36] um and then it might come back because

[39:38] like i might come back life is in a new

[39:40] way in a new form yeah

[39:43] and i'm i'm just

[39:46] i don't want to reject it

[39:48] i know better now to reject you know to

[39:50] not reject things

[39:51] um

[39:53] but i want to be

[39:55] courageous and

[39:57] i know that i mean we all know many of

[40:00] us know the definition

[40:02] of courage it's you know french latin

[40:04] could from the heart

[40:06] but i really am getting that now like

[40:08] courage is fortitude of the heart so you

[40:11] just keep loving just like you keep

[40:12] loving your partner or your kid

[40:14] or a parent that you have a great

[40:16] relationship with like you just keep

[40:18] loving so i'm just gonna

[40:20] do that

[40:21] yeah

[40:23] beautiful

[40:25] well

[40:26] to talk about work for a second if we

[40:28] can because you brought up your you know

[40:30] your heart centered

[40:31] your membership earlier one thing i

[40:34] didn't know that you've been doing um

[40:36] which i was really um intrigued to ask

[40:39] you about

[40:40] you have been

[40:42] working with your heart centered

[40:44] facilitate facilitators

[40:46] you've been you've created a program for

[40:49] heart-centered facilitation and

[40:52] i'm always impressed by anyone who's

[40:54] going to

[40:56] take on that kind of endeavor just

[40:58] because it's something i i know would

[41:00] have many different complexities to it

[41:02] but i wondered what has been

[41:05] perhaps the gift and the challenge of

[41:07] embarking upon

[41:09] co-creating something like that with

[41:10] these people um

[41:13] uh

[41:15] mostly gifts

[41:17] so it started out with

[41:19] i wrote a book called the desire map

[41:23] i started getting requests people saying

[41:25] hey could i teach that chapter in a

[41:26] workshop i was like no not yet i'm not

[41:29] ready

[41:30] and i waited for the request to kind of

[41:32] pile up

[41:34] then we turned it into a teachable thing

[41:37] and i decided to

[41:40] the way i put is like i was going to

[41:41] choose my headache in terms of the

[41:43] business model that i was either going

[41:45] to certify people

[41:48] in which you know they have to go

[41:49] through all their skill testing

[41:50] questions and i would have to deem them

[41:52] good enough you pass you get to be a

[41:55] facilitator

[41:56] um

[41:58] i didn't want to do that because i don't

[42:00] i didn't want to reject people

[42:02] and or my other headache was going to be

[42:05] i'm just going to open it up to

[42:06] everybody anybody can become buy the

[42:09] license become a facilitator

[42:11] and we'll see if there's like complaints

[42:12] if there's any kooky pants facilitators

[42:15] out in the world of people say arrest

[42:17] that

[42:19] and that never happened there's been

[42:21] like hundreds 900 000 workshops that

[42:24] have happened like

[42:25] i think

[42:26] less than a handful

[42:28] of public people said she's not a good

[42:31] facilitator

[42:32] um and then

[42:34] the the guiding question with desire map

[42:37] it was all about getting clear on how

[42:38] you want to feel

[42:40] and so the question was

[42:43] how do i want to feel

[42:44] and now where i'm what i've evolved

[42:48] to with my work and perspective is like

[42:50] you take all that feeling which

[42:53] we now know i'm not my feelings my

[42:55] feelings come from my subconscious

[42:57] highly programmed highly beautiful

[42:59] magnificent glorious part of being human

[43:02] the question becomes what do i want to

[43:04] embody

[43:07] because

[43:08] you can't

[43:13] base your success on how you feel

[43:16] you're never gonna feel successful so

[43:19] it's like i can have a bad day and still

[43:21] give someone some happiness i can be in

[43:23] the

[43:24] in the in hell and still have a

[43:27] purposeful meaningful life which is the

[43:29] point

[43:30] so

[43:32] my

[43:34] and this is a great for me a great part

[43:36] of like the business story one thing i

[43:38] learned long time ago is like

[43:41] crush your gimmicks

[43:42] don't stay hooked onto what everybody

[43:44] wants from you

[43:46] and have the courage to evolve in public

[43:50] so i just told on my you know big day

[43:52] told all my desire about facilitators

[43:55] it's changing

[43:55] [Laughter]

[43:57] i believe something different now it's

[44:00] bigger it's more it's deeper it's higher

[44:02] it's virtuous

[44:03] and

[44:04] you can come with or you can peace out

[44:07] but we're creating new content we're

[44:09] going to train you to be a

[44:10] heart-centered facilitator

[44:12] so

[44:12] what i also know about business is you

[44:14] collaborate with people who are way

[44:15] smarter than you

[44:17] and so i brought in like four integral

[44:20] master level certified coaches

[44:24] people who knew what they were talking

[44:25] about in terms of pedagogy

[44:28] and then

[44:30] we took the the most seasoned

[44:32] sophisticated facilitators we had

[44:35] came forward and we created this

[44:36] beautiful thing

[44:39] so it's these practices that are mostly

[44:42] tools for resilience

[44:44] and i'm most excited about

[44:47] giving people whether you're a coach or

[44:49] yoga teacher or guidance camps or

[44:50] whatever

[44:52] these tools where you can help people

[44:55] hold polarization

[44:59] and

[45:00] [Music]

[45:01] if i can help with that i'm good

[45:05] well because that's one of the most

[45:07] needed things right now yeah that's it

[45:11] that's it uh

[45:13] you know like our holding polarization

[45:15] exercise is

[45:17] not about

[45:18] helping you figure out how right you are

[45:23] it's about you just getting a little bit

[45:24] softer with your opinions yeah

[45:28] that's it

[45:29] yeah

[45:30] and then hopefully everybody cries and

[45:32] enjoys your workshop or your coaching

[45:34] call or whatever it is

[45:36] fantastic fantastic

[45:39] um

[45:41] interesting time in the world as we know

[45:44] right now um and creating is is kind of

[45:48] a

[45:49] i've seen both i've seen some people

[45:51] crumble during this time around creating

[45:54] in the world and just going very inward

[45:56] and

[45:56] letting themselves

[45:58] be

[45:59] going through a metamorphosis and i've

[46:00] seen other people really lit up and kind

[46:02] of

[46:03] you know running like a rocket out there

[46:06] into the world you you

[46:08] appear to be for me and perhaps for

[46:12] other people who know your public work

[46:14] you appear to be a fairly steady creator

[46:17] or at least

[46:18] your creations are fairly steadily put

[46:20] out there into the world by you and your

[46:22] team

[46:23] is that the case for you is is

[46:25] creativity something that

[46:27] runs through your life or do you

[46:29] have seasons in the same way that you

[46:31] evolve a lot and change a lot with with

[46:33] your what you're doing

[46:36] no seasons i just make

[46:39] yeah now

[46:40] i also respect my ebb and flow

[46:44] but i'm always making so my ab might be

[46:48] oh i just want to write right now my

[46:51] flow might be

[46:52] i want to produce

[46:54] 12 podcasts this week

[46:56] um

[46:58] but i never

[46:59] i always have something to say because

[47:01] i'm always willing to be honest

[47:05] with

[47:06] what i found

[47:09] and

[47:12] yeah

[47:13] and what else am i going to do

[47:16] i mean i want to be

[47:20] useful

[47:21] i get it i get it no that that's great

[47:24] and your podcast how

[47:26] how have you found that because i you

[47:28] know i think podcasts give a

[47:31] a space for a potentially intimate or

[47:33] enlightening conversation or informative

[47:35] conversation how have you found

[47:38] you know having a podcast and the

[47:39] conversations that you have with people

[47:42] i don't have conversations with people

[47:43] it's a one-woman show very good and

[47:46] my podcast is a great example of my

[47:48] creative style and

[47:51] rhythm and lack of rhythm so

[47:54] i decided

[47:55] i

[47:56] you know i always want to create in an

[47:58] easy way and even just the thought of

[48:00] scheduling with people and

[48:03] you know i just like no i just want ease

[48:06] i want to be able to

[48:08] record something anytime i feel moved to

[48:11] so

[48:11] i record my podcast on my phone

[48:14] sitting in my living room on the floor

[48:17] i had all this gear and this big

[48:20] microphone and i i put all this sponge

[48:23] up in my closet and i'm just like

[48:25] this is so restrictive

[48:27] so i don't want to be restrictive

[48:29] restricted

[48:31] um

[48:32] so i do it my i just i just i'm

[48:35] sermonizing basically

[48:37] and i also like the intimacy of that

[48:40] and i also think

[48:43] you know

[48:45] sometimes i can be

[48:46] so struck by my own opinions

[48:50] that

[48:52] i don't know if i could

[48:54] i mean i can be gracious of course but i

[48:56] just want to say what i want to say

[48:59] and i'm i'm deeply interested like we

[49:02] could flip it right now and i could

[49:04] talk to you for another hour about your

[49:06] journey

[49:08] but i feel mostly like oh my gosh i just

[49:11] learned this thing about suffering

[49:12] yesterday i need to talk about it now

[49:15] yeah

[49:15] and then i put my podcast out and

[49:18] you know in terms of numbers and and all

[49:21] that did

[49:22] did awesome

[49:23] and then i just didn't feel like doing

[49:24] it for a while and then i wanted to go

[49:27] write a book and i wanted to

[49:29] and then i fell in love with somebody

[49:31] and i just like oh i'm just going to go

[49:32] to the beach

[49:34] and i'm reorganizing my life so

[49:37] basically

[49:38] i can just podcast all the time

[49:41] i think

[49:42] many many people listening and watching

[49:44] just breathed a huge sigh of relief and

[49:46] went what do you mean i could just sit

[49:48] there on my phone and not you know

[49:50] because i you know so many people i know

[49:53] um who are either just beginning in in

[49:55] the work they do in the world that

[49:57] involves broadcasting or they've been

[49:59] doing it a while but they think i've got

[50:00] to figure out this equipment it is it's

[50:02] a minefield and no you don't have to you

[50:04] can just you don't have to your way you

[50:07] can publish as much as you want i mean

[50:09] this is not a great way to run a

[50:11] business

[50:13] but i don't care

[50:14] it's works for me and i am my

[50:17] professional journey is always about

[50:20] freedom and consistency and like that

[50:22] dance

[50:24] and

[50:28] it can be messy but i keep it deep

[50:31] you can rely on me for depth

[50:34] maybe not every monday

[50:37] but i will show up and be real when i

[50:40] show up

[50:41] yeah

[50:42] and you you said you have two live calls

[50:44] a month in your heart centered

[50:46] membership yeah and i love those those

[50:49] this is another like great creative

[50:51] learning like

[50:52] i love being surprised by how much i

[50:55] enjoy something

[50:57] you know i just thought i didn't know

[50:58] what the calls were going to be like the

[51:00] types of questions i you know this is

[51:02] part of my need for freedom

[51:05] which we all know is an illusion i am

[51:06] free i just tell myself a story that if

[51:10] it's you know if if it's on the calendar

[51:12] i'm not free um

[51:14] and i am so

[51:17] nourished by the engagement with

[51:19] everybody and it helps me stay in touch

[51:22] with what's really happening in the

[51:24] world

[51:25] the news can suck it

[51:28] but when you get together with a few

[51:30] hundred women every other week

[51:32] and they're

[51:33] in agony

[51:35] and in glory and they're wise

[51:38] they are wise and they are committed

[51:41] and they are

[51:43] friendly and pissed off and all of it

[51:46] you know what's going on in the world

[51:49] um

[51:51] yes i love them i love them i might

[51:54] do more of it

[51:55] beautiful how long have you done that

[51:56] for the membership it's been a year and

[51:58] a half and

[52:00] that

[52:01] we we could talk a lot about memberships

[52:04] like

[52:04] i started that membership

[52:07] on the on

[52:08] a very traditional foot

[52:11] of

[52:13] we're gonna have a theme and you can

[52:15] only sign up four times a year and you

[52:18] create this kind of demand and then you

[52:20] supply it i'm just like oh god i don't

[52:22] like this this has never felt right to

[52:25] me why i'm committed to helping people

[52:27] alleviate their suffering why would we

[52:29] not set this up so someone can join any

[52:32] day they want absolutely and forget the

[52:35] facade of like there's a waiting list

[52:38] there's no waiting list everybody just

[52:40] getting their together before they

[52:42] can launch it again like you know um

[52:45] they're just building up this

[52:48] it's an illusion it's all an illusion

[52:51] so

[52:52] um sorry if that's how you run your

[52:54] business sorry because i know you

[52:55] haven't mentioned it it's funny i for i

[52:57] was adamant with with the membership we

[52:59] started eight years ago i was adam and

[53:02] no people can come in any month and they

[53:04] can leave any month like they can come

[53:05] in for one month they might stay with us

[53:07] for seven years

[53:09] people have to have their freedom

[53:11] because like freedom is one of my core

[53:13] values by the way so i was laughing when

[53:14] you were talking about freedom because

[53:15] i've had to negotiate

[53:17] i've had to negotiate my personal story

[53:20] about freedom as things changed in my

[53:22] life

[53:23] yes i would i i get that

[53:26] i'm negotiating my personal

[53:28] relationship with freedom too

[53:30] um

[53:32] so where i'm at now with the membership

[53:34] is you can come in any day you want

[53:37] and it's another

[53:38] experience of evolving in front of

[53:41] everybody like we've made some changes

[53:43] and then you have a bunch of people say

[53:45] i don't like that you know i can't

[53:46] please everybody and then you know then

[53:48] you change that and people go i love it

[53:50] you know um and now i really want to

[53:52] change it nobody knows this yet but i

[53:54] really want to change how we're doing it

[53:56] and it's going to be radical and i'm

[53:58] going to have to step forward and say

[54:00] parts of this aren't working

[54:03] and for my own

[54:05] freedom so that i can serve more i want

[54:07] to do this

[54:09] and i hope you stay and this you can't

[54:11] you know as a someone with a business

[54:14] and i have a team of 10 people like i

[54:16] have responsibilities

[54:19] you have to think through these things

[54:21] when this is your livelihood

[54:23] i'm also figuring out how to be prepared

[54:25] if i need to be like lose my livelihood

[54:28] you know if there are major disruptions

[54:30] that come down the pike here

[54:32] and

[54:34] we can't just zoom

[54:37] um

[54:38] or money just

[54:40] digital things just evaporate

[54:43] then what do i do i'll go for a walk

[54:45] and

[54:47] i'm planting potatoes

[54:50] yeah in if if that moment comes it will

[54:54] it will come to you as it will come to

[54:56] all of us you know if if but we won't

[54:58] even

[54:59] we won't even we won't even visualize

[55:01] that right now but i i hear you too

[55:03] about being prepared

[55:04] um and just and just knowing

[55:07] you know kind of having some some idea

[55:09] of how you could adapt especially when

[55:11] you have a team and also

[55:12] a community like a community that you

[55:15] serve it's it's

[55:16] it's not just you anymore with your idea

[55:19] it's it's actually an active and alive

[55:21] thing in the world that's a relationship

[55:23] with so many people

[55:25] yeah it's a relationship

[55:27] you have to keep each other informed all

[55:29] the time

[55:30] yeah

[55:32] beautiful well

[55:33] danielle thank you very much for coming

[55:36] on today i've really really enjoyed

[55:38] talking to you and as i say seeing you

[55:40] out there in the field as a creator for

[55:42] many many years it's been really nice to

[55:44] meet you and be

[55:46] hear a bit more about what you're doing

[55:48] and also just um

[55:51] chew the fat on our

[55:54] never dull global situation right now so

[55:57] thank you for your transparency and your

[55:59] being

[56:00] oh you're so lovely thank you any time i

[56:03] would love to keep talking yeah yeah

[56:05] thank you and thank you everybody

[56:06] listening

[56:07] thank you and for everyone listening and

[56:09] watching um if you want to learn

[56:13] all of the things that danielle does or

[56:15] you want to engage with the heart

[56:16] centered membership or learn about the

[56:17] facilitator program we're going to put

[56:20] links as usual in the show notes

[56:22] underneath the show if you're watching

[56:25] on youtube

[56:26] or in the show notes over on apple

[56:28] podcasts and wherever you're listening

[56:30] to this um but to visit danielle's

[56:32] website you can find her at

[56:34] daniellelaporte.com

[56:36] and we'll also add a link to danielle's

[56:38] instagram which is a great instagram

[56:40] page with lots of goodness going on in

[56:42] so many ways so thank you for tuning in

[56:45] everyone and thank you again danielle

[56:47] thank you

[56:49] hello i'm lee harris i'm an intuitive

[56:52] and a channeler and every year in

[56:54] january i hold a rebirth course a way

[56:58] for us to look at the year that has gone

[57:01] and let go of what we no longer need and

[57:03] look ahead at the year to come and see

[57:06] what we might want to create in our life

[57:09] this year i'm going to be bringing a lot

[57:12] of channeling to my rebirth program so i

[57:15] will be channeling my guides

[57:17] several times throughout the course of

[57:19] the two-week program and they will be

[57:21] bringing transmissions through all based

[57:24] on empowerment

[57:26] when i was tuning in this year as to

[57:28] what the overarching theme for rebirth

[57:30] 2022 would be i heard very clearly from

[57:33] them the empowerment sessions so that is

[57:36] what they will be bringing in the

[57:38] channeled messages and i and my team

[57:41] will be supporting those messages

[57:43] with a series of video and audio

[57:45] presentations all designed to help you

[57:48] reconfigure who you want to be for the

[57:50] year ahead

[57:52] stephen washington will be teaching

[57:54] qigong and wellness practices

[57:57] i will also be doing a whole session on

[57:59] manifestation and creation and our

[58:02] habits and our patterns and how we can

[58:04] elevate and change those in order to

[58:07] bring in the new and my team members

[58:09] marty and wendy will be adding some

[58:11] support videos

[58:13] as well as an mp3 recording that you get

[58:16] as soon as you sign up called your

[58:18] garden of higher consciousness

[58:20] rebirth is always our biggest course of

[58:22] the year and so we have a very large

[58:25] community from all over the world who

[58:28] tune in and most importantly

[58:30] weigh in so we have a community forum

[58:34] that's completely private

[58:35] and it's where you and other members can

[58:38] share your experiences not only of the

[58:40] material but of what's going on in your

[58:43] life right now and what you're looking

[58:45] to cultivate

[58:46] so the group energy that forms around

[58:48] rebirth is very strong and we also have

[58:52] transcripts and worksheets and once you

[58:55] are in rebirth you will have lifetime

[58:58] access to all of the materials

[59:01] so even though we run most of these

[59:03] sessions live as live broadcasts you

[59:06] don't have to be able to be there live

[59:08] and if you do miss a live broadcast you

[59:11] will get the replay on video and in

[59:13] transcript form and audio within two

[59:16] days of the broadcast we begin on

[59:19] january 17th so if it resonates with you

[59:23] to join us for

[59:24] rebirth 2022 the empowerment sessions

[59:28] i my guides

[59:30] and my team would love to welcome you

Got Questions?

Frequently Asked Questions

The Desire Map is a book and planner system that reframes goal-setting by asking not just 'What do I want to achieve?' but 'How do I want to feel?' It integrates emotional and spiritual wisdom into practical life design, treating your internal landscape as equally important as external results.
Spiritual bypassing is using spiritual practices or philosophies to avoid dealing with genuine psychological and emotional work. It might look like toxic positivity, meditation used as escape, or replacing religious guilt with karma-based self-judgment—different forms of the same self-punishment.
Show up authentically by being real about your contradictions and staying oriented toward what's actually true about you. Heart-centered living means remembering what genuinely connects you to others and radically choosing presence over performance in your daily life.
Treating meditation as basic consciousness maintenance—like brushing your teeth for your mind—rather than seeking transcendence. It's practical, grounding, and focused on clarity and presence rather than spiritual attainment or special experiences.
Absolutely. LaPorte calls this 'the intelligence of love'—wisdom that includes both rigorous thinking and openness to mystery. An integrated practice contains skepticism and wonder together, not one opposed to the other.
Notice if your practice is helping you avoid emotional work, if you're using positive thinking to escape genuine feelings, or if you've swapped one form of self-judgment for another. Honest self-awareness and willingness to examine your patterns is the antidote.
Stay present with your contradictions instead of hiding them. Show up real about still learning, still making mistakes, still evolving—not by oversharing, but by not pretending you've reached a destination you're actively traveling toward.
