Worth Knowing
Patty Hlava is a registered psychology Ph.D. who trained at the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology and holds a faculty position there, teaching graduate-level courses in a field that bridges clinical mental health, contemplative practice, and ancient healing systems. With over 25 years of study in self-actualization and transpersonal psychology, plus 15+ years as a licensed mental health professional, she brings both theoretical rigor and hands-on clinical experience to her work. Her practice integrates Western psychology with Ayurveda and yoga—a combination that appeals to therapists, yoga teachers, and psychologically-minded spiritual practitioners who want their healing work grounded in evidence rather than metaphor. She founded AwakenPeace Healing specifically to offer that integration across workshops, retreats, and training programs. Students and practitioners care about her work because she refuses the false binary between Western psychology and Eastern wisdom—instead she models what it looks like to speak both languages fluently.
