Gisele Bündchen is a Brazilian model and activist, born in Horizontina, Rio Grande do Sul. She began modeling in 1996 after being discovered as a teenager, and she has appeared on more than 1,200 magazine covers.
Alongside modeling, she has acted, appearing in Taxi (2004) and The Devil Wears Prada (2006). She was executive producer of the educational environmental cartoon Gisele & the Green Team, and she appeared in the documentary series Years of Living Dangerously in 2016. In 2013 and 2014 she also lent her voice to charity singles, including a cover of Blondie's "Heart of Glass" with Bob Sinclar.
Her charitable work includes Save the Children, the Red Cross and Doctors Without Borders, and she has been a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Environment Program since 2009. In 2018 she published the memoir Lessons: My Path to a Meaningful Life, which was a New York Times bestseller.

Worth Knowing
Gisele Bündchen is a Brazilian author, environmental activist, and longtime meditation practitioner best known to global audiences as one of the world's highest-paid supermodels, but whose cultural footprint now extends far beyond the runway. Her turn toward public conversations about meditation, consciousness, and environmental stewardship represents a genuine shift in her public persona—not a rebrand, but a deepening of values she's credited meditation with clarifying. She's been a UN Environment Programme Goodwill Ambassador since 2009, bringing visibility and resources to conservation efforts, while simultaneously positioning herself as a voice for the internal work—the meditation practice, the mindfulness, the introspection—that she argues precedes meaningful external change. People care about her work because she speaks from lived experience, not theory: she's walked away from major contracts when they conflicted with her values, raised awareness about environmental destruction through both serious activism and children's media, and published a New York Times bestselling memoir that weaves together her modeling career, personal struggles, and spiritual practice. For many, she represents the possibility that high-visibility figures can move toward authenticity and contribution without erasing their past.
