Ari Urban is a classically trained violinist, independent recording artist and sound healing facilitator. A native of Miami, Florida, she is a regular member of Nu Deco Ensemble, the city's 21st century chamber orchestra. She earned her Bachelor of Music at the University of Miami Frost School of Music and her Master of Music at DePaul University in Chicago.
Her path into healing work began with performance anxiety in college. Finding little support at her university, she took a mindfulness course at age 20 and learned to use meditation to train the mind, regulate the nervous system and connect with her intuition. After graduate school she spent two years as a violin fellow in the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, where she worked with Yo-Yo Ma, who encouraged her vision of bringing mindfulness and music together.
That vision became The Art of Being Human, a meditative music concert and sound healing session that combines guided meditation, live string music and sound bowls. Ari offers it virtually and in person for private clients, groups, yoga studios, wellness centers and companies. She also composes meditative instrumental music, and she co-founded Music Free My Heart with Carolyn Baron, which hosts workshops and retreats that join sacred music and meditation.
Her performing career includes stages shared with Yo-Yo Ma, Bobby McFerrin, Jacob Collier, Joshua Bell, Gloria Estefan and Andrea Bocelli, and studio work on Grammy-winning and nominated albums. She is a member of the Recording Academy and has received grants from the Knight Foundation (2020), the 3Arts foundation (2018) and the Miami Individual Artists program (2023).
