Todd Norian is an E-RYT 500, YACEP yoga teacher, author and musician, and the founder of Ashaya Yoga. He has been a student of yoga since 1980 and teaches classes, workshops, retreats and teacher trainings, in person and online, for students and teachers around the world. He describes bringing inner strength, devotion, vulnerability and an unapologetic sense of humor to his work.
In 2012 Todd founded Ashaya Yoga, an alignment-based, heart-centered practice that draws on the five elements and the teachings of Nondual Shaiva-Shakta Tantra. Ashaya is a Sanskrit word meaning "abode of the heart." The method joins therapeutic alignment with Tantric philosophy and meditation, aiming to integrate body, mind and heart and to awaken people's inherent potential for healing and joy.
His path includes certification in Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy, where he became a program director, and years of study in Anusara Yoga, in which he became a Senior Certified Teacher and Teacher Trainer. In 2011 he was initiated into Neelakantha Meditation by Paul Muller-Ortega and later became an Acharya in Blue Throat Yoga. He is also a Kripalu Legacy Faculty member and has taught as a guest at Kripalu, Omega Institute, Esalen and the Toronto Yoga Show.
Todd began piano at eight and trained as a classical pianist and jazz musician. He has made several albums for yoga and relaxation, including Bija: Soothing Music and Mantras for Yoga and Meditation. His memoir, Tantra Yoga: Journey to Unbreakable Wholeness, presents Tantra as a heart-centered path, drawing on his own life, including thirteen years living like a monk at Kripalu.
