Sah D'Simone is a spiritual teacher, humanitarian and bestselling author, and the creator of the Somatic Activated Healing (SAH) Method. He also describes himself as a mystic, artist and award-winning filmmaker. His approach to healing grew out of devotion and direct experience: over 300 days of silent meditation retreat across the past decade, retreat experience in India and Nepal, training in contemplative psychotherapy, and clinical spiritual care training at Cedars-Sinai Hospital, where he has served as a chaplain intern.
The SAH Method is a trauma-informed, body-based practice that combines somatic body keys, trance dance, breathwork, dynamic meditation and positive affirmations. It draws on Buddhist contemplative tradition and on Sah's own kinesthetic learning. He has danced into trance states since 2015. He founded the Somatic Dance Institute, has trained teachers in the method, and leads a live weekly somatic dance class online. His teaching centers on feeling what is present without turning on yourself, and on the idea that freedom begins in the body.
His service work has taken him to orphanages, homeless shelters and rehab centers in Indonesia, Nepal, India and the US. His work with homeless youth in Venice Beach earned the CARE Award from the city and county of Los Angeles. He is a guest teacher at Columbia University, and his site lists collaborations with Harvard, Oxford and Columbia, the United Nations and the World Economic Forum in Davos.
Sah is the author of Spiritually, We and Spiritually Sassy. He hosts the podcast Solving the Riddle of Being Human, and earlier hosted the Spiritually Sassy Show. He also hosted The Big Celebrity Detox on UK Channel 4. He is open about his own history with depression, anxiety and addiction, which he names as part of what shapes his work.
Worth Knowing
Sah D'Simone is a Brazilian-born spiritual teacher, humanitarian, author, and founder of the Somatic Activated Healing (SAH) Method—a trauma-informed, body-based practice that fuses somatic movement, trance dance, breathwork, and dynamic meditation. His reputation rests on three pillars: rigorous personal practice (more than 300 days of silent meditation retreat over a decade, training in both India and Nepal, and contemplative psychotherapy credentials), sustained humanitarian work in orphanages, shelters, and rehab centers across Indonesia, Nepal, India, and the United States, and a distinctive teaching voice that treats healing as relational, embodied, and earned through presence. What draws practitioners to Sah's work is precisely this combination—he doesn't offer abstraction or theory, but rather a lived understanding of grief, somatic safety, and the kinesthetic path to freedom. His work with homeless youth in Venice Beach earned him a CARE Award from Los Angeles, grounding his teaching in real community work, not retreat isolation. People care because Sah models that healing is possible and that it begins in the body.
