Sacred Sound Journey

Sacred Sound Journey is a sound healing experience created by Mark and Roberta Maxwell. They describe it as part meditation, part immersive listening experience, and part sublime relaxation therapy, set in a low-lit, peaceful space where people sit comfortably or lie down on cushions, pillows and blankets.

The Maxwells play Tibetan bowls, crystal bowls, gongs, flutes, didgeridoos, drums, chimes and bells. Their aim is to create a deeply healing energy field that surrounds listeners. Participants are "submerged" in sound, and the vibrations of the instruments move through the physical and mental bodies. The sonic space is meant to help brainwaves shift from more active states to a more introspective, relaxed one, so people can have a meditative experience without knowing how to meditate.

The work rests on the belief that sound, made with positive intention and love, can expand consciousness, heal physical and psychic wounds, and re-align us with the basic harmonies and rhythms of the universe. Mark and Roberta say their goal is to uplift the spirit of humankind through sacred sound for the benefit of all sentient beings.
