Where Her Work Begins

Kirsty Lyon is a meditation teacher, breathwork facilitator and holistic coach whose work sits at the meeting point of mind and body. Public records do not document her hometown or the particulars of her early years, and it would be a disservice to guess at them. What she has chosen to share is something more useful: a candid account of how long she lived with a nervous system that felt unsafe.

By her own telling, anxiety, OCD, panic attacks and depression were part of her life from childhood into her early thirties. These are not abstract credentials for her. They are the ground from which her teaching grows, and they shape its register: patient, unhurried and free of the language of fixing.

The Turning Point

The shift in Lyon's path came with chronic illness, which forced her to slow down at a stage when slowing down was not something she had chosen. Illness of this kind tends to remove the option of pushing through, and for her it opened a different relationship with her body. Mind-body and somatic practices began to offer what years of struggle had not: moments of safety and softness, and a way of meeting her symptoms with compassion rather than opposition.

Later, learning about her own neurodivergence added another layer of understanding. It reframed much of her earlier experience, clarifying the specific needs of her nervous system and why certain approaches had never quite fit. That recognition continues to inform how she teaches, with an emphasis on individual needs rather than a single prescribed route.

What She Is Known For

Lyon's central message is disarmingly simple: you are not broken, and you do not need fixing. She is explicit that she does not share her story as someone who has it all figured out, and that humility is part of what distinguishes her work from the more polished corners of the wellness world.

In her view, healing is not about becoming a perfect, more lovable version of yourself. It is about bringing awareness, compassion and acceptance to all parts of who you are, including the parts that feel difficult, anxious or unwanted. Her stated aim is to help people bridge the gap between mind and body, restore a sense of safety within, and move toward greater wholeness.

Her subject areas reflect that aim: meditation, breathwork, somatic practices, nervous system regulation and trauma-informed healing. What links them is a conviction that insight alone is often not enough, and that the body has to be part of the conversation if safety is to be felt rather than merely understood.

Training and Methods

Lyon's approach is supported by a considerable body of formal study. She holds a Trauma Informed Breathwork Facilitator certification through Pause Breathwork, via the International Breathwork Foundation, and a Holistic Life Coach & Mind Body Practitioner certification from the MBF Institute. She also holds an IFS-informed certification from the IFS Online Circle (IFS Institute, 2025), drawing on the Internal Family Systems model, which understands the psyche as made up of parts that deserve curiosity rather than suppression.

She is an advanced-year trainee in Somatic Experiencing®, a body-oriented approach to working with stress and trauma. Beyond these credentials, she continues to learn through trainings, seminars and masterclasses. That ongoing study matters. It signals a practitioner who treats her work as a craft still being refined, not a finished product, and it fits with her insistence that she has not "arrived."

The trauma-informed framing is significant in breathwork in particular. Breath-based practices can be powerful, and in unprepared hands they can overwhelm. A facilitator trained to attend to pacing, choice and safety offers something quite different from a technique delivered as a quick fix.

Her Work in Practice

Much of Lyon's public-facing work takes the form of guided practice. She shares free breathwork meditations on Insight Timer, making these tools available to anyone with a phone and a few quiet minutes. Her Spotify presence, with more than 32,000 followers, suggests that her audio offerings reach a sizable and engaged listenership. I have not found documented details of specific albums, books, retreats or named programs, so they are not described here.

Her listeners come to these recordings in different ways: some seeking sleep, some seeking calm in a moment of overwhelm, and some simply looking for a voice that does not demand anything of them. Free access is itself a meaningful choice in a field where cost can be a barrier, particularly for people already stretched by illness or anxiety.

The Current Chapter

Lyon's present chapter is one of deepening. With her advanced Somatic Experiencing® training underway and her IFS-informed certification recently completed in 2025, her work increasingly integrates body-based regulation with an understanding of the inner parts that carry fear, protection and pain. She continues to teach, facilitate and offer one-to-one and group support in her capacity as a holistic coach, while sharing practices openly online.

Why She Matters

Lyon's significance lies less in novelty than in tone and lived credibility. The wellness landscape is crowded with promises of transformation, often built on the implication that something about you needs correcting. Lyon offers a quieter proposition: that the anxious, the overwhelmed, the chronically ill and the neurodivergent are not defective, and that safety can be built gradually, through attention and kindness.

She speaks to people who have tried to think their way out of distress and found that it lives in the body. She speaks, too, to those whose experiences with anxiety, OCD, panic or depression have left them wary of tidy solutions. Her willingness to say she does not have everything figured out is not a disclaimer but a form of trust-building.

Her work reflects a wider shift in how mental health and wellbeing are understood: toward the nervous system, toward trauma-informed care, and toward the recognition that neurodivergent people often need approaches tailored to them. Lyon sits within that movement as a practitioner who combines rigorous training with personal honesty.

What endures in her work is its invitation. Not to become someone new, but to meet yourself, in all your parts, with a little more compassion than before.
