Where to Start with Jessie: A Beginner's Guide

Jessie Bee is a writer, healer, yoga teacher, reiki practitioner and breathwork coach. Her work is rooted in finding love for the self and the body, and in spreading kindness. She also makes kimchi, which tells you something about her: she is practical, warm, and happiest with things that take patience.

The single best entry point

Start with her guided meditations on Insight Timer. They are free to try, short enough to fit into a day, and the clearest expression of everything else she does. Her meditations invite listeners to come home to a body that loves them, which is the thesis of her whole practice. Choose any one that matches your available time, put in headphones, and lie down instead of sitting upright. Her work is built for receiving, not performing, so a comfortable position suits it.

I'm not naming a specific track here because the source material doesn't list individual titles. Browse her Insight Timer profile and take the one that sounds least intimidating. The choice matters less than finishing it.

The next two or three places to go

1. Her online courses. Once a single meditation feels good, a course gives you structure. It moves you from sampling to a practice, with her yoga, breathwork and healing approach laid out in sequence.

2. Her newsletter. She writes to her community only infrequently and signs off "Jessie x." Subscribing costs you almost nothing, and what arrives is likely to be considered rather than constant. It is where her writing voice shows up most directly.

3. A one-to-one Angelic Reiki session through Jessie Bee Healing. This is the deepest step, and the one to take only once you trust her tone from the recordings. If you later want to learn rather than receive, she also teaches Reiki Level One training. Holistic facials are on offer too, for people who want the same gentleness in a hands-on, physical form.

What to expect on a first encounter

Expect softness. Her meditations are relaxing and healing, and they reflect the gentleness she brings to her practice. There is no drill-sergeant energy, no performance targets, and no demand that you feel something dramatic. You may feel sleepy, a bit tender, or simply quieter. All of those count as the thing working.

Expect the language of the body and self-love to come first, ahead of technique. If you want precise anatomy or a rigorous athletic program, this isn't that. If you want permission to be kind to yourself, you're in the right place.

Common ways beginners misunderstand her

Treating it as background noise. The recordings work best when you let them have your attention for a few minutes, even if you drift off partway.

Expecting a transformation in one sitting. The practice is cumulative. The first session mostly teaches you what it feels like to be spoken to gently.

Assuming "healing" means a medical claim. Reiki, breathwork and meditation here are offered as relaxation and self-care practices. Use them alongside, not instead of, professional care for anything serious.

Confusing her with the Spotify listings. Some compilations on streaming platforms under similar names, like "Girl Therapy" or "Bachelorette Weekend," are playlist-style collections and don't appear to be her teaching work. Her meditations live on Insight Timer, not in those.

When in your life this work tends to land hardest

It lands hardest in periods of depletion: after burnout, a breakup, a long stretch of overworking, illness, or any season when your relationship with your body has turned critical. It also suits people who are just starting to slow down and feel suspicious of wellness spaces that seem loud or perfectionistic. Her kindness-first approach is most valuable when you've been running on self-criticism and haven't noticed how tired it makes you.

A one-week starter plan

Day 1: Listen to one Insight Timer meditation, lying down, in the evening. Do nothing afterward except drink water.

Day 2: Rest day. Notice whether your body asks for anything, such as a stretch, a walk, or a nap.

Day 3: Repeat the same meditation, or pick another. Repetition helps you settle in faster.

Day 4: Do a meditation in the morning instead. Compare how it feels to the evening sessions.

Day 5: Subscribe to her newsletter, and spend ten minutes looking through what she offers through Jessie Bee Healing, including the courses.

Day 6: Do your longest meditation yet, with your phone in another room.

Day 7: Reflect in writing for five minutes. Did your body feel any easier to live in? If so, book a course or consider a one-to-one Angelic Reiki session. If not, try a different meditation next week before deciding.

Jessie x, as she'd say. Go gently.
