Gerti Schön (Gerti Schoen) describes herself as an earth steward, educator and facilitator, working in deep nature connection. For more than 20 years she was a licensed psychotherapist in private practice in New York and New Jersey, specializing in anxiety, depression, relationship issues, nature connection and spiritual development. She spent long stretches in the Catskill Mountains deepening her bond with the natural world. She now lives and works in the rolling hills of the Main valley in Germany, and she is still licensed in the US.
Her therapeutic work draws on the Internal Family Systems model, years of mindfulness training and depth psychology. She worked with Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy at the Woodstock Therapy Center and is certified in Psychedelic Harm Reduction and Integration by Fluence Training. Today she teaches about healing with the fly agaric (Amanita muscaria), including microdosing, through courses, talks and audio workshops. She also leads small and large ceremonies that honor nature, springs and water, and the wild.
For many years she has focused on deepening her intuition and her connection to the more than human world. Her mentors on that path are Jon Young and Sarah Fontaine, Perdita Finn and Eliot Cowan. She also lists Forest Therapy Guide among her titles. She teaches guided meditations as a course instructor on Insight Timer, including the Feminine Power Rising series on self-empowerment, anxiety, the inner critic, intuition and healing through nature.
She has written three books: a guide to self-empowerment, an analysis of failed relationships between spiritual teachers and their students, and a self-help book on depression and anxiety. Her blog reflects the same attention to the land: birds, sit spots, inner tracking and an indigenous perspective on our place on Earth.
